The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa - opened in 2015 in Venice, on the Isola delle Rose - is the ideal luxury resort for family stays, romantic moments and special events. A private, secluded island, just minutes from St Mark's Square via free shuttle service and a shuttle connection to and from the airport for a fee. The 266 rooms and suites - built in contemporary style and designed by the famous architect Matteo Thun - are located in various prestigious corners of the island and are divided into The JW and JW Retreats. Four restaurants - one of which, Il Dopolavoro, under the culinary guidance of Chef Emanuele Scarello - three bars and the Sapori Cooking Academy, are available for guests to discover and savour the authentic flavours of Venetian and Italian cuisine. In addition, JW Venice Spa, the largest spa in Venice with 8 treatment rooms and a spa suite, sauna, Turkish bath, fitness area, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and gardens for yoga sessions; an offer of sports and activities dedicated to families and children, a Kids Club, a swimming pool in the park, a small church for private events, an infinity pool on the roof of the Hotel - with a 360° view of Venice and the Lagoon - and the secular park: all framing the Isola delle Rose, in the heart of the Venetian Lagoon, which has been beautifully restored.

Nestled on its own private island, the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa garners praise for its attentive service and prime location in Venice, despite occasional hiccups with room upgrades and shuttle service. The resort's extensive amenities, including luxurious pools and diverse dining options, are frequently lauded, contributing to the tranquil escape it provides. While the spacious and modern rooms are admired, some guests have encountered maintenance issues. The vibrant atmosphere and immaculate cleanliness are highlights, though the value proposition is sometimes questioned due to the high costs associated with the resort's offerings.

This was exactly what we wanted: A James-Bond style entrance on our own boat into the Boat-House; someone to carry our luggage. Much better, in my opinion, than trying to haul your own luggage through the maze of carless streets in Venice proper. We were a quick 10 minute boat ride from St. Mark's square, and yet when we needed a relaxing afternoon at the pool or a gourmet meal, it was just steps away from our beautiful room. The meals are pricey, granted, since you literally have no food options except at the hotel. But we planned for that, and even enjoyed a Michelin 3 star meal at Dopolovoro. Plan ahead and you'll love it!

We stayed at the JW Marriott Resort on Isola delle Rose, Venice for a long weekend, and from the moment we arrived and stepped on the Island the whole experience was magnificent, such an impressive “James Bond” entrance.

I was immediately recognised as a Marriott Platinum Lifetime member and shown such courtesy.

We were each allocated Bi-level Maisonette Suites with private gardens in the grounds just a stroll from the main hotel building, these were very modern and so well furnished with excellent amenities, downstairs lounge with kitchenette and bathroom, excellent desk and WIFI facilities, upstairs was a cleverly appointed bedroom and large bathroom with walk in shower and tub.

During our stay we explored the massive grounds, which were very well maintained, several of the outside facilities had closed due to the end of season.
Free regular boat service was available to transport you to the mainland.

The rooftop pool and restaurant were excellent giving lovely views of Venice and ideal for lunch, the lounge and bar on the ground floor was great for a quick drink and snacks, again not overly busy due to the time of year, the restaurant in the evening was a little limited for food, breakfast was excellent, the young staff very caring and helpful.

Being a short trip, we did not have time to explore all the facilities, but rest assured we will be visiting again during spring / summer months so we can enjoy further, relax and unwind in this perfect location.

Great thanks goes to the GM Cristiano Cabutti for his very kind hospitality.

This absolutely gorgeous hotel set on its own private island (which you access by complimentary water boat shuttle or private taxi) was once a hospital and has been fabulously renovated and expanded to offer a most impressive retreat from the hustle & bustle of life

We booked private transportation through Civititas who were fantastic! You approach the resort in style via a private dock. It’s super glamorous and like something out of a James Bond film

Everything is maintained to a very high standard, immaculately clean and beautiful throughout

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful

Travelling as a travel agent was fortunate to be upgraded to a Junior Suite King room which was incredibly spacious with a wonderful private balcony overlooking gorgeous landscaped gardens

Hugely decadent bathtub with separate dual shower and WC

The grounds are extensive and beautiful-so many secluded areas to relax and enjoy some peace & tranquility. There is a small spa and treatment rooms.

There is a great family pool and kids area which opens from May onwards for the summer season

There are various room options to suite every family and guests preferred configuration and location around the resort. It caters for young and old, families, couples, business travellers, weddings, special celebrations and everything in between

The lobby is very open and modern with a small bar area for drinks and light snacks. Enjoyed listening to the live piano music in the evening

We enjoyed a few “to go” treats from the Grab&Go Deli (the homemade crisps are delicious !)

Venice is a short 15 minute boat ride away and the courtesy water taxi runs every half hour until around 12:30 am so we went back and forth to Venice every day and had a wonderful time exploring all the streets and fabulous buildings and enjoyed lots of delicious pizza and pasta

There is a spectacular rooftop bar and outdoor pool which is an absolute sun trap and has gorgeous views over the whole Lagoon and Venice itself. Ideal location to watch the sunset

Can not say enough great things about this hotel and about Venice itself

We also took a trip from San Marco, Venice to the quaint and colourful sleepy islands of Murano & Burano (world famous for their centuries old traditions of glass blowing & lace making, respectfully). Would highly recommend!

Also enjoyed a traditional gondola ride in Venice and walked miles discovering many of the exquisite hidden delights & gems of Venice’s lesser known streets

Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa for the best short break we could possibly have hoped for!! We hope to see you again!!

We stayed at the JW Marriott Venice hotel for 5 nights. We arrived using their 'Meet & Greet Service' which cost 260 euros one-way. This consisted of a car transfer to Piazzale Roma followed by a luxury private boat ride to the hotel. This resulted in a stress free arrival and one we will never forget! We decided to use the same service for departure.

We received a very warm welcome from Melissa and Giorgia. Both were very polite, amicable and professional. Melissa continued to engage with our family throughout our stay to ensure we were well looked after and enjoying our Venice experience.

We originally booked 'La Maisonette Loft Suite', part of the JW Retreats. However, prior to arrival we enquired about potential upgrade options and were offered 'La Maisonette Pool Loft' for an extra 200 euros per night. In our opinion this was a worthy upgrade as we had our own mini pool/jacuzzi to enjoy once the family pool was closed (8pm). The JW Retreats is set in a beautiful secluded location with exclusive check-in and complimentary private breakfasts at Fiola (although you can still enjoy the amazing free buffet breakfast at La Cucina too).

Our Maisonette Pool Loft was actually larger than anticipated! The photos online do not do the rooms/garden justice. It was spacious, spotless and felt very luxurious. Housekeeping staff were industrious and ensured the property was well maintained and immaculate. In-room dining was phenomenal! Food was consistently delivered on time, hot and absolutely delicious. Strangely, it was better than the lunch we experienced at the Sagra Rooftop restaurant.

We decided to book two tours via Marriott; Hidden Venice (private tour) and Murano & Burano (group tour). Both were exceptional, informative and very enjoyable.

The hotel provided a free shuttle service to St.Marks Square every 30 minutes.

Overall, our stay at the JW Marriott Venice was a superb experience.

The resort is located on a private island 20 min away from San Marc but it has a shuttle every 30 min to and from San Marc. While for some it can mean disadvantage, it is really an advantage when you know how buzzy, small, and old style the city hotels are.
The Marriott is a very modern, very large and well maintained hotel.
As soon as you get back from the buzzy Venice, you feel like you landed in a beautiful beach resort.
Our room, a junior suite was very spacious and overlooking the gardens and the sea. Large bathroom and walk-in closet + a huge terrasse.
My wife, organised this week-end away without telling me, and I can say that the hotel was very accommodating! They even printed out pictures of our family that they disposed in the room with a beautiful birthday cake.
Pools are small compared to the resort's size but nice. They might get very crowded if many people want to stay at the pool.
Staff is very nice and always helpful.
Breakfast would be the only thing that is not extraordinary. Regular European buffet breakfast for a large resort. You can ask for many things that are not on the buffet but the buffet itself is not in the top 10 at all.
In any event, if we ever go back to Venice, I would most probably chose this resort again because of its location (yes!), freshness, spaces, rooms, staff and more.
One more thing, maybe because of its location (which, again, I loved more than the hotels from the center) it is fairly priced in a city in which every hotel is very overpriced compared to the accommodations, spaces etc.

Very average stay for a JW property. We chose this property over staying in Venice city center due to the pools and spa (resort feel) but it fell a touch short of expectations. There were too many wasps around the pool areas at the spa especially and rooftop area - pool to make it enjoyable. The Infiniti adult pool is small and not many chairs. Although the pool area at the spa was nice, it was 110 Euros per person for the day with many wasps swarming around us.

We had a king size room, The room was large and nicely furnished. Mattress was meh. Housekeeping was outstanding and Lobby bar was great.

Checking out was very disappointing. No early breakfast was available even though room service is open “24/7”. No bell hop was available either to help with our luggage.

Shuttle to Venice ran like clockwork every 30 mins and dropped us off in a perfect location in Venice, but it took 20-25 mins each way, the boat goes very slowwwww. It got a bit repetitive after a couple days of back n forth. It can also get extremely hot on the boat, as there is lack of air flow.

It was an enjoyable stay but fell short from expectations. Next time In Venice I would stay in the city and skip the “resort” feel, since the pools with the wasps killed the experience plus the lengthy boat ride to the city.

Dear Larry T, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the JW Marriott Venice. We are pleased to read you appreciated the housekeeping service and the room experience. On the other hand we regret you did not enjoy to the fullest the "resort" feel to the fullest. Kindly rest assured that we have taken severe measures to make wasps flying away. We have taken a very good note about your preferences and we are taking a very good note if by any chance you will back visiting us in the nearest future. With our warmest and kindest regards Martina Carlon - Guest Relations Manager

I was a little hesitant to book the hotel given that it’s not in the main part of Venice, but instead of a 20 minute walk to San Marco, you can arrive by water. This hotel is not a place to stay, it is an experience! Where else can you take a private water taxi direct from the airport to get to your accommodations? It’s worth the €150 private water taxi to be whisked away to Isola della Rosa in under 40 minutes, you can’t help but feel a little like James Bond.

JW Marriott really pulled out all the stops. Staff from check-in to concierge to La Cocina were exceptional. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite in the main hotel with lagoon view. How does waking up to views of Piazza San Marco square across the lagoon sound? Free breakfast for being a Platinum elite member was well worth it. Plus you can also get free coffee service (cappucinos, etc) at the delicatessen. We were also welcomed by a freshly baked Venetian fugassa (brioche) in the room, real nice touch. It was also nice to spend an afternoon walking the grounds or enjoying a drink at the rooftop bar away from the crowds.

If I were to stay here again, I’d probably choose a room in La Maisonette or Uliveto, as with the current decor, the main hotel felt a bit dated. The orange and blue fake-flowers need to go! Black & white photos make the place feel classy, but then the random color photos make it not cohesive. Also the 1990s brass door hardware in the room doesn’t help. The Junior Suite isn’t truly a suite as there is no separate living space or even couch to speak of. The black-out curtains in our room weren’t set up on separate track so you couldn’t overlap the two draws. I reviewed La Sagra separately, but don’t rely on it. Did any of this take away from the experience? Certainly not.

Why four stars? Their rooftop pool has all the makings for a five star experience, but comes up short in the service department. The lounge chairs are comfortable and look over the most amazing scenery. The pool music sounds like Sirius XM’s channel called Chill, which is very relaxing. There's a full bar behind the pool, and very clean restrooms behind the bar. There's a pool attendant that will set up your umbrella and place your towels for you, but the service stops there. No one is going to ask if you need drinks or lunch menus. You have to go to the bar yourself. Someone will bring your order to you, but you have to take your empty glasses away yourself. If not, your small lounge table gets overrun with dishes. At 3pm someone will approach to ask if you are ready to settle your bill, but after you pay, you won't see anyone for service again for the rest of the afternoon.
Some will say Americans want too much. When we're on vacation we want to be catered to too much. We want to buy things we didn't even know we wanted. We love the suggestive sell and will often say, “Yes, I'd love a cappuccino, or three. Yes, I'd love a prosecco, cold ice cream, a delicious lunch, lots more ice in my glass. I'm on vacation. I'll take it all!”. I'm guessing Italians might prefer to just be left alone when on vacation, which is valid, too.
For me, the hotel was nice, but with a few service tweaks, could easily be so much more.
:)

We booked a non-refundable rate (I know, never again) because our stay was planned just prior to embarking on a cruise in June. COVID-19 changed all that, and more, but our initial request for a cancellation and refund was refused, citing the rate terms, and despite having been told by the Marriott agent who took the cancellation that we would be refunded. It took a couple more email, but in the end Paola Toniolo, Reservations Manager Venice Area, agreed and saw to it that we would get a refund, which we have received. Many thanks for the help, and we still look forward to visiting in the future. May you and your family stay safe and healthy.

We have decided that we will never visit Venice and stay at any another property!

We are well traveled and Italy is our favorite worldwide destination! 30-ish years ago, Venice was the first city in Italy we had ever visited. Over the years, we have micro-traveled and explored much of the rest of country. Mainly because of the crowds (even back then), we did not think we ever needed to return. Great city, lots to see and do but "been there done that". We had decided that navigating the throngs of tourists was just not worth it. We know many people that feel the same and those who know us and our travel habits, were surprised to hear we were going again. But, an itinerary elsewhere in Europe had us adding Venice as our final stop and we were thrilled find this respite from the maddening crowds..

Our positive experience began even before we arrived. The concierge reached out ahead of our visit and helped us line up airport transportation, reservations, dining suggestions, etc. They were completely attentive to our needs and requests for information and ideas. Since we had been to Venice before, they were helpful in helping us satisfy our desire for "off the beaten path" experiences.

Unfortunately, we arrived at the VCE airport but our luggage did not! The Concierge staff jumped right into "work the problem" mode and did everything they could to support the resolution of this problem. It was not their fault that our bags did not arrive for another 4 days but they did everything they could to help us.

This is a gorgeous property. We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a loft suite. SPECTACULAR! Beautiful, well maintained and comfortably equipped accommodations in a quiet area of the Island. We loved walking through the Olive grove on our way to breakfast, our daily activities and even after our evening boat trip from "the mainland". All our meals on the property including Dopolavoro and Sagra Rooftop which were wonderful, delicious experiences.

Every touch point with each and every staff member was personable, helpful and professional. All the concierges, the cafe's and restaurant staff remembered us by sight and took great care of us. Their training was obviously top notch! Special shout out of Thanks to Melissa, Cristina, Marco, Alessio and Alma. We loved the Pizza making class by one of the chef's. Now we can expertly navigate our own pizza oven at home.

The Island location encouraged us to avoid the crowds during the busy time of day and spend our time visiting some of the other barrier Islands like renting bikes on Lido and exploring Murano and Burano. We would take the water taxi later in the afternoon to walk the streets, visit the art galleries and museums and dine at some of the amazing restaurants that Venice has offer.

When we visit Venice again, we will surely stay at the JW Marriott!
