San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Just returned from a 3 night stay. The room is basic but clean, that's all I was really looking for. The location is perfect, walking distant to everything. Air con in room is needed and very good. I arrived late around 12am, i went into the restaurant below the hotel and they

It is difficult to find as is off the main streets and only accessed via narrower back alleys but was a great little place to stay as a young couple who didn't need much. We turned up earlier than check in due to our early flight but after buzzing the door a few times it opened

Great location but not worth the €580 for 3 nights. We never met any staff during our stay. The room had been remodeled but was not supplied with any cups or glasses. The bathroom sink light did not work. Lorenzo emailed that it would be fixed. The problem was not resolved.

I took the boat late at night and it took forever.... When I left I walked to the train station in about 15 minutes and then there is a shuttle: The 20-minute non-stop trip from the airport to Piazzale Roma, the bus terminal in Venice, runs three times an hour. Cost one way is 6 euros per person.

From the Marco Polo Airport, use the ATVO buses that run frequently to Piazzale Roma. The buses are just past the door to the parking lots after arrival. At Piazzale Roma, cross the pedestrian bridge to enter the old part of Venice. From there, just follow wall signs for San Marco ( "per S. Marco"). It will take you at least 30 minutes through winding alleys to get the area of San Marco. The route will include crossing the Rialto Bridge to the other side of the canal. But, the hotel is a block or two from the San Marco. Your nearest landmark to the hotel is the church San Guiliano. The church is at Campo S. Zulian. The hotel is located in a courtyard behind this church on Campo de la Guerra corner Calle Specchieri. You have to ask for help at the restaurants to identify the courtyard's entrance. Good luck.
