We stayed just one night at the Excelsior--our wedding night--having transfered from a cheaper hotel to spend our first night as a married couple in more luxurious surroundings. I can't express how wonderful the manager is--when he saw us checking in wearing our wedding clothes, we were upgraded and he personally delivered our bags and a bottle of champagne with...

Upon touching down in Sicily for the first time ever, our driver from the Excelsior Hotel helped us navigate the indifferent employees of Alitalia as they lost our luggage. After an uneventful check-in the driver drove us back to the airport that evening to reclaim our bags. The Excelsior is another of the grand tourist hotels from the late 19th...

In march 2010 we stayed 6 nights in this hotel. As mentioned in other reviews it is a comfortable hotel with rooms of a comfortable size, the breakfast offers everything you like and it is a suitable location even for a longer stay in Catania as we had. The location is about a 10-minute walk to the Dome-square and about...

Rooms need updating but seem clean, beds are uncomfortable, staff are not so service oriented as other great hotels Dining room breakfast was fine (pastries, fruit) but the hot items are basically inedible Staff do not speak english so difficult to get assistance

Our party of four couples stayed here courtesy of BA following a flight cancellation, so I can't really comment on value for money, just on how we found the hotel and service. Our first reaction on seeing the hotel was one of relief, as it looks very nice from the outside. The service at reception on check-in was very quick,...

Booked hotel through lastminute as it was a real bargain and reviews were ok. this hotel makes a lot of the fact that somebody gave it 5 stars but whoever it was, they were wrong. Some elements are nice but... No 24 hour room service (in fact nothing past 22:30), no in'room movies, bar closed before midnight on a Friday...

Great hotel with high standard. The balcony had no furniture. But the room had flatscreen-TV with proper picture (in contrast to other Sicily-hotels). I got the impression that it was free wireless internet, but it turned out wrong information. The hotel offered a beach-package with transport and sunbed. But the transport was very late, and the beach was overcrowded. But...

Good location, and good breakfast, which is important to me, since a typical Italian breakfast is not enough for me. Some people in my group thought it wasn't actually a 5 star, but I had no complaints. The single room with shower only (no bathtub) was a good deal for the money. The staff was helpful and attentive. The air...
