This is a beautiful hotel and the rooms are spacious. There are some artworks in the room that make you feel like in a special place. Unfortunately you don't have a Sicilian feeling. The breakfast time is really short, only till 9:30 on weekdays. The hotel is 45 min walk from

Dear Stijn T, thank you very much for choosing our hotel for your stay and sharing your opinion on your experience with us. We are very happy to read that you really appreciated the property and its atmosphere, the spacious rooms and the presence of beautiful art all around you both in rooms and common areas. I just wish to highlight that the information you are sharing on breakfast must be the outcome of a great misunderstaning, as every day breakfast is available until 10,30 - if you had tried to go to the breakfast room after 9,30, you would have seen it was open and fully operational. Also, we wish to highlight that every artwork in the property is by Sicilian artists, all the antiques you find in common areas and junior suites are original Sicilian as well, just like our warm and attentive service, and that we wish to convey a very Sicilian approach to hospitality while at the same time being a stylish design boutique hotel! Also, we are sorry that you found the property not conveniently located: still the area where the property sits is the city centre, while the one you make reference to is the historical part of the city centre, that starts at five minues walking from here, with Teatro Massimo, and ends some 40 minutes away from here, with the Normal Palace. So while some venues of the historical city centre are in fact a 30 minute walk from here, the hotel is still very nicely located in the most elegant area of the city, a really close walk to the Theatre, where most sightseeing visit start. I wish to thank you for choosing our hospitality and hope to welcome you back on the occasion of your next visit in Palermo. With my kindest regards, Giulia Briguglia Sales & Marketing Executive Hotel Principe di Villafranca .

I gave this hotel a 2 star because the hotel is in a good location and the staff was friendly. The hotel is extremely understaffed. The bar was empty, in order to get a drink we had to ask and then the maintenance man waited on us. It desperately needs a makeover. The rooms are

Dear 2lilly2, thank you for sharing those aspects that you found pleasant in your stay, as the good location and our friendly staff. As a matter of fact, I must admit that some parts of this review do recall some phrases and exact wording contained in the previous review, but of course that could just be my impression. I must highlight that some sentences in your review present opinions and assumptions as pure facts. As a matter of fact, it almost seems that the property was falling to pieces if one had to take literally what you write! The property was completely renovated some years ago, and thorough maintenance is performed periodically, with very specific and extended interventions aiming at bringing back to new all rooms and areas over the low season, starting in November. Carpets are in vegetable fiber and of an extremely high quality, and get cleaned by our staff if staining occurs, in a very timely manner. Decorations in rooms and common areas are made with top quality design and furniture, original artworks and design lamps. Amenities in rooms are of the best quality as well. The level of produce at breakfast is very high, featuring fresh, local produce, and with a selection that focuses on quality and sustainability. Service is lovely and attentive all throughout the property - as you may have noticed by one member of another department serving you at the bar during an absence of the barman due to service reasons or just closing time. Believe me, if this hotel was aiming at saving money on services and amenities, we would be doing pretty bad! A boutique hotel of 32 rooms is by definition not a place where you would expect to see crowds, so even when the hotel is fully booked, and guests relax and enjoy the elegant atmosphere of our lounges, you will always find a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. This is considered by most of our guests a plus, and not a depressing environment. Of course, if someone expects the vibe of a resort with plenty of activities and dozens of people always around, a stylish retreat like Villafranca may not be the best option. I appreciate your feedback and will look forward to having you back with us, and in the meanwhile I send you my kindest regards. We were on private luxury tour supposedly. Last two nights were here. Room was small and dark, toilet stained and would not flush properly. Curtain in bedroom was hanging off rail and would not pull. Internet was hopeless. For breakfast four people could not sit together, could

Dear Ms Gofton, I am very sorry to read this bad review and to learn only from it that my previous and private feedback was considered unsatisfactory - as a matter of fact, I had tried to share facts, and that many of the issues contained might have been verified and eventually solved pretty easily during your stay if shared at the property. As previously stated, when contacted by our client for your complaint, I was very surprised. You had been informed at check-in that you had received an upgrade from a deluxe room to one of our Junior Suites, featuring two separate areas, one comfortable sleeping area where lights are soft and a living area with a large sofa, a desk and luggage holder, coffee/tea making facilities, a Nespresso machine... This room is extremely quiet and cosy, like an alcove, and has a overall large surface. As to the curtain issue, I had personally verified that both curtains were working wonderfully, but in any case an off-rail curtain, if present, is solved in a matter of minutes if reported at front desk – or maybe the issue was caused by attempting at opening the curtains without using the appropriate strings. As to other issues pertaining to facilities like the stains in the toilet or the malfunctioning of the internet, I may assure that we would have verified the issue immediately and taken any possible action to restore your satisfaction , had we been informed during your stay. As I previously shared, I must also admit I do not understand very well the remark on the lack of tables where to sit together, as we have tables for two that are also united by our staff to form tables for four and six - and two lovely and attentive waitresses providing anything which is requested by guests in a timely manner. Moreover, our carpet in the corridor, which is of an extraordinarily good quality soft vegetable wool, may of course get stained at times and it is walked by a very large quantity of people every day - still our staff provides excellent cleaning. Once again, I am truly sorry for the inconveniences that might have been hampering your experience, but all the more I am sorry for not having had the possibility to verify and take action during your stay. Had you expressed any unease while at our property, we would have used any possibility or solution to make your stay more pleasurable, as we always do for all guests. With my best regards, Giulia Briguglia Sales & Marketing Executive Hotel Principe di Villafranca

One look at the threadbare carpet on the stairs and stains on the furniture tells all. Tiny rooms with extremely small bathroom and not very clean. Breakfast very limited and not replenished. Travelling with a group and didn’t select this hotel.

Dear Flemjan, we are sorry that you have not appreciated your stay experience. We regret not having the possibility of addressing your dissatisfaction during your stay: while some of the issues raised are very subjective, others are not, and it would have been important for us to have the opportunity to verify them, considering they pertain to aspects we are usually complimented upon, like cleaningness, variety at breakfast, maintenance and so on. We feel that the overall tone, like defining a carpet that is in vegetable fibre and a light color and that may have some thinner areas "threadbare" and saying that resin and marble, that have different densities and shades are "stained" creates a crumbling atmosphere which is incredibly distant from the truth. While sure you will find another hotel on your next stay in Palermo, we are aware that other readers will not be stopped by an ungenerous subective point of view, as there is a wide array of positive reviews and compliments available for them to read. With our kindest regards, Giulia Briguglia Sales & Marketing Executive Hotel Principe di Villafranca

Are you pet friendly? Thx
Is it far from the hotel to the Palermo Centrale Stazione?
Dear Hetty52, the property is the immediate surroundings of Piazza Castelnuovo, some 2 km from the Central Station. Please do not hesitate to contact out Front Desk for any further request or information. Giulia Briguglia Sales & Marketing Executive

Do your rooms have air conditioning? We would be staying in September.
I was surprised to find that Palermo is a very quiet city. I fully expected it to be "Naples further south" but was surprised at the silence and sophistication of the city.
