Albergo Cavour is a couple of minutes walk from Stazione Palermo Centrale and there is signage along Via Alessandro Manzoni. Access is by buzzer at the main entrance and then by a historic lift to the reception on 5th Floor.

I had a warm welcome and I was asked what breakfast items I wanted delivered to my room the next morning, I was then shown to my Double Bedded ensuite room. The room was light and airy & was immaculately clean, the high ceilings gave a feeling of spaciousness. There was a small balcony with a panoramic view of the surrounding area and of the sea in the distance.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the cable TV had an extensive range of channels, the wifi also worked well. The aircon was a godsend with temperatures in 30's outside. The bathroom was large with a powerful shower with liquid soap and shampoo provided and plenty of towels.

The highlight was the breakfast which was brought in on a trolley with the items of my choice. It was so nice to have the balcony doors open eating my breakfast with the sun rising over the rooftops.

Albergo Cavour is an amazing place and is in such a convenient spot close to Centrale and a 15 minute walk to centro storico. I was made to feel so welcome, the room was very comfortable with stunning views and the breakfast was delicious.

I had to sleep one night in Palermo just to catch an early train on the following day and frankly did not expect that much for such a humble rate. Once there I realized that the hotel was much more than a cheap lodging next to the train station. The lady who runs it was exquisite. The room was spotless. I have never slept in such clean linens. Even the throw on the bed was pristinely clean and ironed. The bathroom was the cleanest bathroom I have ever seen. The air conditioning and TV set were flawless. They would have even served the breakfast in the room if I did not have to run so early to the station. Thank you again Signora for your taste and generousity.

This is a very nice place to stay in Palermo. The location is great, just next to the central train station and the buses.
An immaculately clean room with comfortable beds, we had a good night sleep. The breakfast is nicely served in the room.
The communication with the owner is clear, correct and very friendly.
A very positive experience, I recommend.

Having read all the rave reviews, I was really looking forward to staying at Albergo Cavour and while it did live up to its hospitality (with a special breakfast and unique architecture) every time I entered the property ... I felt awkward!

The property is located on the 5th floor of a dilapidated, under-construction building. To enter it, you first need to buzz at the front door of the building, waiting for someone to let you in and then ring the bell again on the 5th floor, waiting for someone to open the door. While, these calls were always answered quickly, I felt awkward and hesitant when I had to enter/exit 3 times during the day and then return late at night!

The property is a bit far off from the old town and the touristic spots (around 15 min walk) but very close to Palermo Central (just across the road). The room was spacious but outdated with no extra ports and no lights. Being on the 5th floor did give me some great views of the city! The property is family owned and managed, which is something that certainly made it unique - it was like living with an Italian family with the owner mopping the floor as I entered, the son handling the reception and the grandmother enjoying her tele in the kitchen!

The bathroom was well equipped, the wifi was functional and having an air-conditioner was amazing. The breakfast is delivered in the room, making the stay extra special!

Other small, minor gripes include having to switch on a geyser in advance of requiring hot water, no trashbins in the room and lack of English speaking staff! All that said, at the end of the day comparing the stay and the price, you cant ask for more and Albergo is certainly worth every pence spent! Would certainly stay here again if they can somehow work around the entry/exit scenario. The state of the building might put off some people but if nothing else, just visit Albergo for the heritage elevator (I personally have never ridden anything like that)

Brilliant for arriving dumping your stuff and heading out. shower was fab. ice cream shop, cross main road and turn left towards the botanic gardens and take the next right, The BEST! cheap pizza and pasta in via maurolico next to station "enzo's pizzeria". palermo was a FANTASTIC holiday.

The accommodation I had reserved did not work out so as I was roaming the streets near the train station looking for a hotel, I passed this very simple sign on a side street and decided to check it out. I rang the buzzer and came up to the fifth floor in one of those cool European elevators. The woman at the hotel was so nice, limited English but she understood me and I understood her. She showed me a room with an ensuite and I loved it. Forty euros for ensuite, thirty for shared bath. The shared bath is also really nice and spotlessly clean. Looks newly remodeled, as does my bathroom. The room is spacious and simply furnished. Has a gorgeous wardrobe I wish I owned. Also has a big bathroom with a lovely shower and hot water. First decent shower I have had in two weeks since leaving my friend's place in Rome. Also has a small flatscreen tv and a heater that actually works. Beautiful big window. Love this room. And this hotel. Very convenient to the bus and train station, both just across the street. But this hotel is on a side street and it is quiet. Beautifully tiled floors and just a really beautiful building inside. Highly recommend. This is the best value I have found in southern Italy. Also has free wifi that works! Spotlessly clean. Not even a water spot to be found in the bathroom. I am impressed with how clean it is.

This is not a 'flashy hotel', it is the urban equivalent of an inn, and its charm is in the way it reflects what Palermo is all about - tradition and style - evident from your first impression, the ancient lift that trundles you up to the 5th floor reception. The room was a bit spartan, but a good size - and a delicious breakfast was brought to our room each morning.
The owners were wonderful, if a little linguistically challenged - but Italian is fairly easy to understand if accompanied by lots of gesticulation! They even got up before 5am on our last day to get the car out of the secure parking for us.

The place is little tricky to find, you have to consider Palermo's intricate one-way system a pleasing challenge!

The accommodation was very old fashioned but close to the termini. There is not much to do around the neighbourhood. Rooms were spacious and bathrooms were an interesting set up as toilet paper has to go into a separate bin.

We stayed at Albergo Cavour for 2 nights as a base to explore Palermo on our first and last night of our holiday in Sicily.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the main bus/train station so was really easy to find and is on a quieter side street away from the main traffic/noise.

It's in a lovely grand building and the rooms are very clean and spacious with a view of the town.

The owner wasn't overly friendly, but was nonetheless very helpful and we had no problems with coming in/out of the hotel.

I always like a hotel to be like a home. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it will have to be clean and cozy. Albergo Cavour is without a doubt a wonderful home for a traveler. I did pick the room with a private bath. The bath area unfortunately is tiny even for a skinny guy like me. The owners are very nice although speak almost no English. But don't worry. You are still going to be well taken care of. My room is spacious with view of the Sea (not beach sea view but still the Mediterranean at a distance over Palermo's low rising skyline). It is also a stone throw away from the train station with absolutely no safety issue in the neighborhood. Wifi is a bit slow though but usable. I will definitely come back to live here if I ever find myself in Palermo again.
