In the capital of island, among Baroque churches and markets of Islamic memory, there is the Hotel del Centro with all mod cons. The Hotel del Centro has opened recently and it is situated in the old town centre of Palermo very close to the most important monuments, such as The Cathedral, The Massimo Theatre, The Vucciria Market and so on; moreover it is only 100 metres away from the Central Station of Palermo, in the neighbourhood of which there are the arrivals and departures of the buses for the airport and the whole Sicily. You can easily get to the Hotel del Centro from the Port of Palermo, which is about 1 Km away from the hotel. Staying at the Hotel del Centro, you will be able to walk through Palermo and you will enjoy the atmosphere and the folklore of the popular markets of the city. The Hotel del Centro, which is in a suggestive period building, is very comfortable. There are rooms with bath, shower, phone, TV, air conditioning, windows no-noise, hairdryer, Wireless Internet Access and skilled workers at your complete disposal.

The hotel is centrally located, only few minutes walk from the railway station and even closer to the main pedestrian street and its most important monuments. The staff at the reception desk and specially in the breakfast room is welcoming, friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in May 2022. The hotel has a great location, close to the Railroad Station, Great Restaurants and Historic sites. The room was adequate but did not have a desk or refrigerator (I missed that upon booking). Great shower pressure and bathroom in general. The Staff made the experience worth this stay, from the front desk to the staff attending the breakfast room. The free breakfast is limited with mostly pastries and breads but they did have meats and cheeses. Overall I would stay here again, if my regular hotel in Palermo keeps their prices too high.

Our family hotel stayed for three nights. The hotel is conveniently located and makes exploring Palermo on foot very easy. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. - nothing was too much trouble and they arranged taxis, made restaurant recommendations etc. Many thanks

We spent three nights in this tiny hotel and despite the hospitality of the staff at the reception and the breakfast area, we are sorry but we do not recommend a stay in it.
The first surprise was the location: the reception is on the third floor (second level above ground) and could be reached by a really small elevator or by steps. Our room next to the breakfast area, especially our bathroom and the whole hotel smelt badly of mildew. The bathroom ceiling was completely covered with mildew. Everything there needs an urgent and thorough refurbishment.
The WiFi was also bad and needed a constant reboot by the staff. The socket for the electrical razor in the bathroom was losing contact. The socket in the room was also loose.
Despite the noise from the Via Roma, we were happy that we didn't get a room in the Via Pola side alley because the garbage containers there were full, wide open and they smelled really bad.

Response from GIUSEPPE PALAZZOLO, Altro at Hotel del Centro
Responded 4 weeks ago
Dear Anonymous, your review doesn't even deserve a response, precisely because it is not possible to see who you are. However, I am answering you because I am used to showing my face in what I do and since this is my job I don't allow you to spit on it. The fact that you raise the location of the reception on the second floor as the first problem shows that you are not Travelers but simple tourists. Our reception on the second floor has never been a problem for our customers. Regarding the bathroom in the room, we had a leak upstairs and it was necessary to wait for the maccai to dry to restore the ceiling. Now I can guarantee that everything is ok. In the hotel there are two 10 GB routers and 7 repeaters to guarantee wi-fi in every room and in every corner. All rooms have special windows that reduce noise by over 70%, and therefore with the window closed inside the room there is a muffled atmosphere and customers rest in peace. Naturally, if you keep the window open, the city comes in with its noises. But all your anger weirds me out, I would like to understand. Maybe you reported the problem and were not listened to? If you had requested a room change we would have done so immediately. For us, ensuring a pleasant stay is a company mission. It's a shame that you didn't materialize with your name and surname, but I want to make you a promise. If I can trace your genealogy from our registers, no one can take a good complaint from you. I wish you a good life. Not to see each other again Giuseppe Palazzolo director

Good accommodations and very helpful and friendly staff. This hotel is in a very good location. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is available for 5 euros. buses and trains are near by. getting to the hotel from the airport is very easy, just take the train to Central station and the hotel is a 5 minutes walk. the building is locked and the only way to get in after 20:00 is to make a call to open the front door.

We stayed at The Centro for 1 week, from 9/6/23 to 16/6/23. The hotel is very close to all the bars + restaurants of the town, and a 5 minute walk to the main line train station. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are kept very clean, but basic. No mini fridge or kettle, no tea / coffee making equipment. The rooms are a good size. The only complaint from us, was the fact we were woken every morning in the early hours by the bin men, who were very noisy, emptying metal bins from under our balcony (room 7) and a water heater in the hallway opposite that made noises all through the night. The breakfast, €5 each, is simple and ok, but nothing more. Nothing cooked, just cakes and bread rolls with ham or cheese. This hotel is ideal as a base, somewhere to leave your case and explore, but not much else. However, it is clean and the staff are nice, so it’s not all bad.

If I could sum it up - not what we were expecting.

Arrived late and was hard to find the entrance - we drove. That was a mistake as parking (even late at night) was impossible.

Room was small, dated and basic but spotlessly clean, reception was 24/7 and really helpful and location was great.

Once we got our bearings it was east to navigate to the entrance and work out how to get to the reception. The building g is shared with other hotels / businesses and as others mentioned there in an antique lift to get you to the 3rd floor.

Breakfast was interesting. Very very small eating area so be prepared to make friends !!!

All in all the hotel did what it needed to do for us but as I say at the beginning just not what we expected.

Me and my wife have just return from Palermo. We were staying at the Hotel del Centro for six nights. First impression, well, disappointment. I will try to explain why:
If you are looking for a hotel in the city center, this is not a hotel for you. You will have to take a bus to get to the city center (four or five bus station), and if you wish to go to the beach than, you have to take another bus from the center.
Hotel is in the building on the 2nd floor and in the same building there are two hotels each on the separate floor.
Hotel is in essence, created from the flats on the 2nd and 3th floor with internal stairs. If you get the room on the 3th floor then you have to carry your luggage on this stairs.
Dust on the chairs and artificial flowers in the hotel hallway will be cleaned during this year on the end of the season (I sincerely hope so!).
Room was spacious. Bed covers was with holes from cigarets and moths.
Because Palermo has a problem with sewerage system you might smell stink as we were so, we have requested to change the room. And we have moved from room 24 to room 19. Situation was better but not much.
WiFi, in this room (19) is not available. You will have WiFi only if you exit the room. We had the terrace with table and two chairs. I guess that the guest obligation is to regularly clean the table and chairs from the dust and birds shiting, or maybe, it will be cleaned in the same time as dust in the hotel hallway?
Breakfast... well what to say, if you like to have sweet breakfast every day than, it is OK. But if you dont, you will have only ham every day (even the cheese is sweet?).
One bright spot in this hotel is the hotel stuff, which was very polite and helpful.
Hotel is located in the place full of emigrants from Africa and Pakistan and across the street you have Africa market.
Noise from the street was very loud so if you want to sleep you must close all windows.
Air conditioner was managed from the reception so if you wish to increase or decrease the room temperature you have to call the receptionist to come and do this with remote contoller which is not available to the guests.
I sincerely hope that I succeed to explain why this hotel was a big DISAPPOINTMENT for us.

Three of us spent 4 nights here, and were very comfortable and happy. We walked down from the station no problem, and the lift to the 2nd floor was quick and reliable. This is a typical Italian hotel, with high ceilings, tiled floors and a beautiful breakfast room with lovely plaster work. The beds were comfortable, with sheets changed once during our stay, and towels were replaced daily. The double glazing and shutters kept out the noise from via Roma, and we all slept well. The shower worked well and was roomy, and there was always a spare roll of toilet paper provided. There were enough sockets for all of us to charge up phones and tablets (we had taken plenty of plug adaptors!). The highlight of breakfast was the charming lady who made our delicious cappuccinos. She was very busy washing and drying dirty dishes and topping up platters of meat/cheese/pastries etc, but not too busy to draw pretty patterns in the milk froth with the actual coffee. And one day we even had 2 cappuccinos each. There were different interesting local yummy things every day, including profiteroles stuffed with lemon custard, and the local delicacy "cannoli". We were able to buy the hop on hop off bus tickets at the reception desk, and catch the bus outside the station. On our final day, we were able to leave our suitcases there all day, and also use the toilet when we collected them on the way to the station to catch the train to the airport. I got wifi in the room via my Kindle fire tablet, though my family were not so lucky. We did not ask about this, as we were mostly out and about all day and evening. We asked for a recommendation for somewhere to eat, and got 20% off the bill when we said we were staying at Hotel del Centro. Later, we found several other good restaurants, and would recommend Il Proverbio as extremely handy and cheap (just off via Roma a few streets along on the way into town - pizza recommended), and Ferro di Cavallo in via Venezia, (just off via Roma somewhat further into town) as even cheaper and full of local colour and tasty grub. We would be very happy to stay at Hotel del Centro if in Palermo again.

Answer from GPalazzolo
Palermo, Italy
Dear Carl In this period the subway does not work because they are doing the works of modernization. I'll recommend you to take, at the airport, the shuttle bus of the company Prestia e Comandè. From the shuttle terminal, in the central station of Palermo, to the Hotel del Centro there are only 150 meters away on foot. Do not run particular risks, of course, the taxi is more comfortable. See you on May 13. Greetings the director Giuseppe Palazzolo
