A converted monastery became a 5 star hotel. Very palatial yet still has a cozy feeling. The grounds are spectacular and the view of Mt.Etna and the Mediterranean Sea are breathtaking. ( all from a balcony while sipping wine). The breakfast is extensive and presented in a ballroom. You may sit inside or again enjoy the views from the terrace....

Everything from the beautiful architecture, stunning court yards, fantastic pool area, wonderful food and truly magnificent views made this one of the most exceptional hotels we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many of these 'Leading hotels of the world' chain....

This property has other-wordly charm. It is like staying in a museum with magnificent art at every turn. Everything about it is on grand scale. The attentive service, the central location, the manicured gardens, the sumptuous breakfast --- all wonderful. We were graciously upgraded to a room with a breath-taking view of the sea, for which I will be ever-grateful....

This former monastery has been transformed into a five star hotel without losing any of the charm of the original building. The staff are wonderful, so helpful and well informed about restaurants, tours etc. The food is very good with one of t he restaurants having a Michelin star, the same chef oversees both restaurants in the hotel. The beauty...

We booked this trip rather last minute and I'm not sure this hotel would have been our top choice otherwise. We chose the hotel primarily due to its location. Starting with the positives, there is no doubt the hotel is in a fab location within the town centre and its cliff top position offers great views. The cocktails in the...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the San Domenico. We are very sorry that our Hotel did not matched your taste and especially our buffet breakfast. So close to the main drag, but the gardens and view over the sea are so stunning I didn't want to go anywhere else! Rooms are widely spaced but good sized and well maintained. Breakfast buffet the best I have ever seen, with prompt coffee service. Front desk staff uneven but Santi and Adriana can do anything (with a smile).

Ok positives first. Its a truly stunning hotel which many years ago used to be a monastery. It has an old school timeless feel. Vaulting ceilings, lovely gardens, to die for views, 2 star michelin restaurant which was reasonably priced- we basically had 7 courses most ex gratia + bottle of plonk and we paid 180 euros. All that aside...
