I have been staying mostly at airbnb's the last few years when traveling, but my stay at Villa Belvedere has made me completely reconsider that strategy. This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I cannot think of a single thing where I thought "well, that could be improved". The hotel staff were friendly, exceedingly helpful, and without exception seemed like they enjoyed working there and took pride in their jobs -- everyone from the desk staff to cleaning staff. The wonderful people at the front desk made excellent dinner recommendations and even called to get us tables. We had to leave early to catch a flight on our last morning, so they made sure our bags were taken care of and there was breakfast for us (even though it was well before the official start of breakfast). Our room was beautiful (it was in the new building so everything was very, well, new): amazing terrace, luxurious bathroom, etc. The attention to detail and pride in his work of the gardener (or gardeners) is hard to ignore, especially once you realize that what plants are beautiful to see during the day are also beautiful to smell at night. It's hard to believe that this hotel exists in the utter touristic chaos of Taormina. It felt like a world apart.

Dear Guest, Your spontaneously enthusiastic and very much appreciated review about our very newly inaugurated, “Infinity Suite”, one of our new Rock Suites, that on the “night-area side”  face the splendid, natural rock face  on which Taormina is built, with its very attractive and varied vegetation, overlooking our pretty, rock garden while on the other, there is the broad expanse of the Ionian Sea and the Bay of Naxos, and sweeping round southward, the majesty of Mount Etna, and its fairly frequent and often spectacular activity, gives us a particular sense of satisfaction because this “world apart”, that you describe, was created from an old, disused building, that has now been completely rebuilt following all the strict, safety rules of modern architecture and engineering and  even importing a considerable amount of good, volcanic soil to encourage the unique, rock garden to flourish, so as to produce and complete this designer-styled gem, which is already becoming quite popular now and that stands almost opposite  our traditional Villa Belvedere, itself.    My  dedicated staff are,  as you very kindly mention, all, indeed devoted to ensuring that each guest’s holiday here, is a truly memorably happy experience, as is in fact typically found  in Sicilian hospitality. Whether guests just prefer to relax here, or wish to enjoy sightseeing all over Eastern Sicily, from Taormina, which is a perfect base for sightseeing trips, or simply go shopping in Taormina's pretty  boutiques, at just a few minutes stroll from the hotel, to the popular,  main pedestrian town centre. Thank you again, for your review and also for the full number of Trip Advisor ‘points’ you award to us and we very much hope that this first visit, will lead to others, on future occasions, when you can be assured of a very warmly sincere,  ‘welcome back’ to Villa Belvedere. Kindest regards, Cristian Pècaut, Manager.

We stayed here for two nights and we were really looking forward to our stay. Decided to splurge on a hotel here due to the reputation of the town and this hotel and we were not disappointed! The staff from the check in to the breakfast area to the maids were all spectacular. They couldn’t have been more hospitable. Their training must be impeccable because they were thorough and consistent. The hotel itself is wonderful and a perfect location to relax. Cannot recommend this hotel enough

I would like to think that in the not too distant future, we may have the pleasure of a return visit from you , when, please rest assured, a warm, ‘Welcome  Back” to Villa Belvedere awaits you both. This 4 star family run hotel has a friendly feel and has great views over the bay. The rooms vary in size. We had a large room with an enormous private terrace, but down steps to the pool ( not heated) and then up more steps in the garden. Be sure to check the room you’re getting. Breakfast was very good. Staff excellent.

Dear Guests, Thank you for your very helpful comments in the review you have published, after your recent holiday in Taormina, when you stayed in one of our very popular, junior suites  situated independently among our gardens.  As you will very probably be aware, no two rooms in Villa Belvedere are identical. In fact, the ambience remains that of a typical, Sicilian family villa, overlooking  its own, well cared-for gardens and occupying  the land that slopes down  gently towards  the coastline of the Ionian Sea and so poffering breathtaking unimpeded views. Although, so as  to avoid the possibility of  overlapping bookings, we prefer not to guarantee a either a certain room number or a specific floor,  we do always try to ensure that any special requests are satisfied, and quite often, we also organise  upgrades to those guests who let us know that they would have preferred  different  accommodation, whenever this is possible, of course. Having said that, the junior suite that you occupied, has its own “fans” among our often returning guests, who always hope to be able to stay there again, in spite of the steps that you mention, which  lead however, to the utmost comfort of the suite , and also help to create a feeling of quiet intimacy. As is always mentioned in replies to requests for accommodation, our pretty pool, with a tall palm tree standing on a tiny island in the centre, is never heated, but guests appear  to find  the sun-heated temperature of the water, agreeable.   Thank you for your approving and much-appreciated comments, too, about our breakfasts and about our staff, generally. We all work very well, together here, as our ain is  simply  to ensure  a very enjoyable stay for all our guests. Kindest regards, Cristian Pècaut, Manager.

I’m not quite sure how we got the ‘suite’ we did, but if you ever go to Taormina- stay here in room 418. Private entrance, then walk down 15 stairs into a large bedroom with full kitchen & dining room. Very modern new bathroom w jet shower, & 3 patios on 2 levels! Flowers & plants of all kinds are everywhere! You are in a tropical paradise w a view of the deep blue ocean. Bed is so comfortable, very clean. Breakfast is wonderful too. Can walk easily to town, Greek Theatre is 2 min walk, & a beautiful local park is 2 min down the street. I know it’s listed as 4 stars, but to us it was 5 star perfect!

Dear Guests, It is such a pleasure and gives us a real sense of achievement, to read the warm review you have published,  after your stay in one of the two, very new, junior suites that we were able to create from an old Sicilian villa, that stands next to the hotel itself, and while these junior suites  now offer  the type of comfort and wellbeing that modern-day travellers expect,  the work has  been carried out without damaging or altering the precious, typical architecture and décor of the original building.   Although it was only very recently inaugurated, we have received several enthusiastic reviews and we thank you kindly too, for yours, with your lovely descriptions and information, together with the full number of Trip Advisor ‘points’ that you have awarded to us, on every aspect of your holiday.   T.A. readers are now able to read direct opinions about our latest enterprise and perhaps decide that it is exactly where they would like to spend their Taormina holiday.  While so far there are no “official “photos on our site of the villa and the two delightful junior suites that it offers they will in fact very soon  be published, on our website. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the not too distant future, on another, rather special holiday. Kindest regards, Cristian Pècaut, Manager

I booked this hotel mainly because of the ratings it got. It’s a fabulous hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful. Lovely reception on arriving. A big thank you to the lady on reception who helped organise the room move. We had booked a sea view with terrace. A lovely room (22) but you can’t see the sea because of all the trees & although it had a terrace with loungers it was not private & other people could walk past which for the price we had paid I wasn’t happy about. They moved us to room 8. It was perfect & made the holiday exactly what we had wanted. It’s lovely & quiet & a short walk into Taormina where you can find all the restaurants (there is not one in the hotel). The lady who cleaned our room was lovely, she had no English but we managed to kind of chat & she taught us Italian for 30th wedding anniversary. She put fresh flowers in the room, such a lovely touch & we got cake & Prosecco by the pool. Heartily recommend this hotel

Dear Guest, As you can imagine, it gives us all, here at Villa Belvedere, a feeling of great pleasure that we were able to contribute to making your important, 30 th wedding anniversary such a special occasion and that you appreciated the suitably chilled Prosecco and cake, prepared for you by our resident pastry chef,  to celebrate with, beside our pretty pool.  Indeed, whenever possible, we like to mark a special event, above all  for guests who have reserved a stay of several days, or to offer a different room, or even a free upgrade, because of course people have different tastes and different expectations. We are in fact very proud that no two of our rooms are identical although they are similar in size and décor and have all the same high quality amenities, because Villa Belvedere still has all the ambience of a large, private,  family villa, lovingly brought up to date over the years, with discreet but important alterations, for the wellbeing and comfort of modern-day guests, but that in no way detract from the “essential”  Villa Belvedere. Naturally both  the room that you reserved and occupied at first  and the one we were able to offer you as an alternative,  had furnished, personal sun terraces, and while the first one may occasionally have another guest stray past, the terrace is quite well protected by various sizes of shrubs in ornamental pots and overlooks our beloved and well cared for gardens, with a wide variety of various types of trees, shrubs and plants. Our property in fact, follows the slope of the land down towards the coastline and the expanse of the Ionian Sea. Pretty Taormina town centre,  at just a few minutes stroll from our gates, offers  not only interesting sites and attractive shops, but also a good number of pleasant and various,  types of places to eat especially in the evenings, although, when perhaps a guest might prefer not to eat out, maybe after a late arrival, or a fairly busy day’s sightseeing, on request,  we will organise an appetising cold supper, or  else just a snack, or even a pizza, from our local, good pizzeria, that can be enjoyed on a terrace, or served in one of our smaller lounges. Thank you kindly for recommending us and please rest assured that your warm comments have been passed on to my dedicated and courteously friendly and helpful staff, who are always pleased of course, to hear nice comments from our guests’ reviews. Kindest regards, Cristian Pècaut, Manager.

Can you advise where we could park our car?
They have a small Carl park at Hotel and will park it for you . Once it’s parked you don’t need it within Taormina

Im so sorry have only just seen this question. however I did do quite a comprehensive post on this hotel in which I thoroughly recommended the extra for a room with a terrace and a sea view. We had room 25 which has a large terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas - a glorious view. we enjoyed this so much we have re booked for 2019, and I have been assured that all rooms with balcony and sea view are as well appointed although probably not as spacious.

Yes. The hotel will organise a taxi for you from the airport direct to the hotel. The cost was 98 euros each way. Sounds expensive but trust me its worth every cent. The buses are sporadic and if you have had a few hours flight and its hot plus your luggage to cope with, to be met at the arrivals gate and taken direct in a very comfortable car with expert driving is a bonus. Added to which, unless you know the hotel situation and Taormina town itself, its very difficult to find first time. The bus station is also at the bottom of a hill (as this is a hillside town not unexpected). We also didn't find it necessary to hire a car either. Its 20 euros to park per night at the hotel and quite frankly we met two couples who had done this and never taken it out of the car park. So the 200 euros was in our opinion worth it.

Can trip from the hotel to Mount Etna be arranged and how much will this cost please?
Use the guide the hotel recommends. She was fabulous. Takes you to the relatively untouristy side. I forget the cost but it was not very expensive and you get a great tour.

The car park is extremely crowded, but hotel seems to manage it well. Like the others, I wouldn't recommend renting a car for the whole time. We used Taormina car service for many trips, and hired a car for the day through the hotel (it was delivered/picked up from hotel) when we wanted to go farther afield. Driving through taormina itself is difficult. Happy travels, Lisa
