We’ve been happy with our choice, the hotel was spectacular, with special mention to the beautiful garden with the pool. It’s calm and spacious which is not easy to find in Ferragosto in Taormina, with very kind hotel staff, exactly what we needed!!

That is a genuine quote, which I totally agree with. However staying here was my luxury treat on a ten week tour of Italy. HOW DISAPPOINTING AND UPSETTING! The room had a sticker at the door suggesting it was sanitised, BUT the room was dusty, with dirt in the bath tub and cobwebs on the skirting boards. My room fridge did not work {older than Noah’s Ark). On going out for the morning I informed reception of the problem. Upon my return at noon, I found my room almost trashed with the fridge standing upside down. I rang reception asking someone to come at once and witness the situation. After 30 minutes I gave up and took photos and went to reception where the lady ( manageress?) clearly did not care. Apparently I was out for the day??? Eventually by evening a replacement fridge was installed, but this did not work ether. The entire hotel is in a state of decay with a staff who frankly couldn’t care less. One staff member alone actually had an understanding of customer service, but the others couldn’t even pretend to care. Strange that the decent staff member had to relocate halfway across the world from Orange, NSW to show the locals how it is supposed to be done. This hotel is in a magnificent building with spectacular views, however if left to continue like this it will either decay altogether or will face financial ruin. Such a waste!

Their reviews and rates were way overrated. We were with 3 old-years kid and they gave us a room with stairs that we needed to take for 2 floors when we previously indicated that we are with a child. Their breakfast service was the worst ever. All the tables were full of used dishes and staffs didn't want to clean, some didn't even wear a mask, service was awfully slow, we always had to go find them to ask something. Staffs at the reception was not professionally trained, they were cold and even rude. Bed rooms were not cleaned and we had to ask additional clean up as our table was white with the dust.. The swimming pool is way too far from the hotel rooms, you need to walk down 3 floors by foot along with the outside stairs under the burning Sicilian sun. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a classic old hotel that retains a historic feel. the location is good being only a short walk into the town center Our room had old furniture but that gave it character. The bathroom could do with an update. A strange selection of bath towels and napkins instead of hand towels. The air-con although having a very old control system worked well. Breakfast was ok The view from the balcony was superb. We stayed the last weekend before they closed for the season and some refurbishment. The pool area was quite nice but the pool was not the cleanest, especially around the water level The staff were a mix, one very friendly helpful man on reception in the morning followed by a grumpy very unfriendly lady in the evening

A complete disillusion! My wife and I have stayed before with Grand Hotel Miramare (in Liguria) and thought the name was a mark of quality we could trust. The Taormina branch was nowhere near the standard of the Liguria one, not even talking about being a 4 stars hotel (or even a 3 stars)! We even thought leaving to another hotel after checking-in but with a limited budget, we just couldn't afford it. The entrance hallway has been recently refurbished and looks very nice, but that stops there. The rooms and the rest of the facility are terribly outdated and worn. The bathroom was smelly and shows the most its age. It would not even be of 3 stars standards. My wife and I couldn't understand all the positive review, is it related maybe to the season (we went in September)? The hotel was almost empty, understaffed (we couldn't get any drinks at the bar). And the staff itself was far from showing the most welcoming behaviour (though always remaining polite and respectful) we've been accustomed during the rest of our trip. Unless this hotel transforms itself, avoid at any cost!
