The staff is very friendly and helpful, the view is stunning, the location awesome, the room small, but functional. Only problem: there was a strong foul smell from the sink, that was almost unbearable. When we told the staff they said they are trying to solve this problem for some time but in vain...

The only reason this hotel is not getting more stars is because of its single room that I was checked into upon arrival. Previously, I had no idea that single beds in hotel rooms even existed. However, traveling solo, upon check-in I was ushered into what can only be described as a wide hallway/college dorm room with a single bed shoved up against the wall, barely any natural light, zero view, such an inferior A\C unit that it only served to moderately cool part of the entryway and nothing of the sleeping “area,” nor any interior decor to speak of. For the price and considering pictures on the website, this room shouldn’t even be rented and if it is, shouldn’t cost more than 30 euros a night as it’s more comparable to a private room in a hostel than a design hotel. I was disappointed I paid this hotel’s prices for that experience. That said, the proprietors were wonderful, and when I came downstairs and asked to change rooms as I found mine depressing and unacceptable, for an upgraded fee they changed me in a beautiful room facing the old town with a charming balcony and beautiful view. This was exactly like the photos, got beautiful natural light and changed my mood and perspective on the hotel entirely. The breakfast was nice, the rooms and hotel were spotlessly clean, the location just steps from the Main Street in the old town couldn’t be beat, and the proprietors and very kind, available and helpful. Thanks!

We stayed for a week at the Porta del Tocco, as we were in Sicily for a wedding. We had a double room, and a friend had a single. The first night we were in a room which was quite near to the air conditioner units, so we weren't able to leave the window open because of the noise (it was still quite cool at night for May) However, when we asked to be moved we got a gem of a room. No need to worry about the see-through bathroom walls, as mentioned in quite a lot of reviews - from what we saw they have all been sorted out. Our friend in the single room did have the glass walls to her ensuite, but as she was the sole occupant, it wasn't a problem. I'd read positive comments about the quality of the towels and sheets, and they were really excellent. The Hotel itself is just up the steps (about 20?) from the main street - we watched the tour groups come through the Porta Catania as we enjoyed our leisurely breakfast on the sunny terrace at the front of the hotel. The main street runs from the Porta Catania (where the hotel is), right along the Corse Umberto to the Porta Messina at the other end. There's endless fun to be had by taking the little streets that run parallel to the main street to find hidden houses, shops and restaurants. The staff were absolutely amazing - caring, cheerful, civil, and really helpful. They really are the stars of this hotel. Well done to Anna and the team! I really enjoyed the breakfasts - ham, cheese, fresh fruit, nuts, muesli, pastries, and really good Americano coffees. There were fruit juices and cereals as well. It was so lovely to be able to sit out on the terrace and watch the little lizards on the ancient walls of the old city. (They didn't bother us at all, btw) This is an excellently-situated hotel, with only a small number of rooms. It is spotlessly clean. There's no night cover at reception, but you get a key to let yourself in which worked fine for us.(If you're arriving late, they just wait up for you) I think that if they wanted to spend a little bit of money, then installing a card-key system would be helpful. There was an issue with builder's noise in the mornings at the back of the hotel, but there were builders working all over the town. The good news is that they don't work weekends! I'd definitely stay there again. We had a lovely time :)

Loved this place. the location is fantastic. Right at the beginning of the main thoroughfare, the Corsa Umberto. Opposite one of the best and cheapest pizza places in town, one minute away from the second best and cheapest pizza, pasta and arnacini place in town. Everything is in walking distance, the Greek theatre, the funicular, the bus terminal. Hundreds of shops, bars, coffee places and restaurants. The rooms are well designed, very modern and the most beautiful towels I've ever had in a hotel. The staff and the owner are super helpful and friendly. And the wi-fi is perfect, no problem at all It's super central, so there is noise, but not excessively so, and you should be out anyways

I just came back from Taormina and I stayed in this hotel and it was mixed feelings between the good and the bad... what i liked is the location incredibly well located.. rooms are a bit small but really nice and smells really good with good air condition (very important During summer)... staff is really nice Anna and Valeria are really cool ! Now what I really didn't like is the following.. for a 3 start boutique hotel with a relatively high price per night I expect to have a good internet connection and it was the worst connection I had since long time... had to activate my roaming data service and that is not normal..it is a really bad connection... and a last thing about the room... design is good and nice and having glasses for the bathroom is a nice idea but only for the shower part... the curtain that could be dropped down for a bit more of intimacy is really not practical for getting in and out... not mention that even when it is dropped down and glass door is closed it is still zero privacy as you are less than 2 m away from bed... Overall it is a very nice hotel and well located with good design (not so practical)but a really bad internet connection... for the price per night paid I expect a bit better...
