Where to start! Instructions from the train station are written in very poor English. Upon arrival the owner makes you sign a paper in Italian. When this is queried as to what we are signing she responds that everyone else has also signed it but provides little description of what had been signed. We got the private room with bathroom....

Pretty easy to find, the owner sent us an email before we arrived with directions from the train station (a 5 minute walk). We were able to get checked in right away and the room was nice enough. We booked the 5 bed room and there were 3 twin beds and a double, luckily 2 of us didn't mind sharing...

Awesome place to stay in a great location near the train station. Florence is pretty small so everything is in walking distance. The owner was very sweet and gave us great advice about where to go and what to do. Nice rooms and a nice clean bathroom. It has been recently redone so maybe that accounts for all the old...

Dark and dingy, maybe a good place to stay if you're a rodent with night vision or something but the owners seemed to scrimp on light bulbs. Really felt like I wasted my money when I was here, rooms uncomfortable and the whole place seemed run down. Wouldn't recommend this at all - a dump in an otherwise wonderful city.

We stayed there for 3 days 2 nights. The service there are the worse of all. The room are in bad condition, feels like going back to the olden days where there are bad smell and limited lighting. Where in the room and toilet, there is only one light bulb and we can barely see when its dark!!! We paid...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
