Terrible experience with Rosso 23. Booked a single room and then called the hotel (3 weeks in advance) to change to a double after a friend decided to join me. I was told it was all taken care of only to find out when checking in that my reservation had not been changed. Mistakes happen... but rather than apologizing staff...

As with other reviews we found this place to be great. First time travellers to Europe who experienced a wide variety of levels of accommodation this was a real treat. Great location, just a short walk from the train station, friendly staff and an easy town to find your way around from the hotel. The two cafes right outside the...

My single room was well equipped with everything required for a few days trip to florence. The staff were very friendly and inviting, and the hotel was ideally situated in the heart of Florence, and made a good base for walking to all the sights. The room was clean and comfortable, quiet at night and mosquito free! Breakfast, included in...

Loved the hotel, has already recommended to friends and family. Here is my pro / con list: Pro: 5 minutes walk from the train station. Beautifully designed hotel. Rooms are true to the pictures. I got a room facing the Santa Maria Novella plaza, which was huge (a big change from the tiny room I had from Levanto). The bed...

If you plan on taking the train around Italy and are stopping in Florence, this is the hotel for you! You are literally across the street from the train station! The hotel was incredibly clean and the room was very large for a hotel room. The location is also great because you are within walking distance of the major outdoor...

We stayed at Rosso 23 for 3 nights booking a superior room with a view. The room was clean and very spacious although it only had a small shower and no bath. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice and friendly staff, but the lift is very small and hot. It is only a 5 minute walk from the train...

We were in Florence for a wedding and booked this hotel on a recommendation from the Mother of the Bride. It is a great little 3 star! It is part of a group of hotels owned by the same company that are all on the Piazza SMN. Breakfast is 3 euro but it is quite extensive for a European breakfast...

Florence was our second stop in Italy and we stayed here for 4 nights. We had a large room with a queen bed and a single. The hotel appears to have been remodeled in the past few years as everything seemed fresh and updated. The room was quite large and the bathroom was larger than anything we stayed at in...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
