Hotel Calimala is situated in the heart of the historic center of Florence, occupying two adjacent historic buildings, the East and the West. We offer a range of room categories, spanning from 16 sqm superior rooms to spacious 50 sqm executive suites. Renovations led by designer Alex Meitlis involved the use of authentic materials such as pietra serena and Tuscan marble, along with contemporary furniture, to leave the Florentine soul of the building intact. The rooms and common areas are characterized by high quality prints and masterpieces by international talents: a true compendium of contemporary art, in which you will immerse yourself in every moment of your day in Florence! The hotel also has two restaurants: Meze, which is in the west wing, offers a special Mediterranean sea cuisine experience that our chef has reinvented. A stunning perspective of Florence's City and a Mediterranean-style cooking are paired together at Angel RooftopBar&Dining in the East wing.

Hotel Calimala Florence garners praise for its excellent value, boasting a prime location and a complimentary breakfast that guests appreciate, though a few find it on the pricier side. The staff's helpfulness and professionalism contribute to an exceptional service experience, complementing the stylish and comfortable rooms. While most love the modern-meets-historic atmosphere and cleanliness, some guests mention noise issues. The rooftop views and breakfast variety are among the amenities celebrated by travelers.

We wanted to be in a central area and this hotel did not disappoint. This is a building in the heart of the city, typical to most European hotels, the rooms are not huge, but all are extremely well done. I stayed in the standard room, the Junior suite and the Comfort room. I would definitely recommend the comfort room and Junior Suite as they gave just enough extra room to accommodate my need for a workspace and to manage devices. The basic room is very nice, I just wanted a little extra room.
Florence is a busy city, so if you sleep with the windows open, you will hear street noise, but then again, you're downtown. I believe they have rooms that face a courtyard and they may be quieter. In any event, it's a great place to stay, the breakfast offered in the morning is very decent and all of the staff were extremely nice.
The hotel is located in 2 buildings. When you get there they will tell you whether you are in the East or West location as they are essentially across the street from each other. There are breakfast options at both locations.
Also, there is an open air building nearby that houses a bout 40 vendors during the day, but at night when it is empty, there are impromptu performances by musicians that are amazing.
Its great hotel and i would stay there again gladly.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Nestled in the shopping district of Florence is Hotel Calimala. I stayed in Calimala West which is the location without the rooftop bar/restaurant.
Location: You have no shortage of luxury hotels in Florence but Calimala stands a step above due to service and location. You are steps away from the Duomo, shopping at major luxury stores, museums, mercato central and tourist attractions. Waking alone at night I felt very safe as a solo traveler. Everything you need is a stones throw away.
During summer months there are small festivals that play music late at night. The noise didn’t bother me but be mindful before booking.
Check In: smooth experience and I was welcomed with a refreshing glass of Prosecco. The bellman Haziz is so charming and helpful.
Staff: All the staff members were kind and helpful. Bravo to the employees and management staff on training and treating each guest with kindness. I asked the housekeeper for additional chocolates and eacch night housekeeping placed chocolates on my bed; which is a thoughtful gesture.
Room: The interior decor of each room is fabulous. The hotel design mixes art deco elements and bold colors against traditional Tuscan architecture. The chevron tile design in the shower is beautiful! I loved the room lighting, touch pad, bathroom features and you can access Netflix/YouTube from the tv channel. This hotel has a lot of style!
I had stayed in room 5013 a spacious deluxe room facing the duomo and Calimala east.
I had breakfast one morning, the selection is plentiful but there are several cafes in the area that offer breakfast at a much lower price. Drinks from the hotel bar were splendid! They made great limoncello spritzers and Aperol spritz.
I will be returning in the future!

Beautiful, newly remodeled hotel that strikes the perfect balance of Italian charm with updated amenities and rooms. Spacious rooms (by European standards) have lovely exposed brick walls and large windows that can be opened up to the city center outside your window and heavy wooden shutters that can be closed to block out the light, chill or bustle of the city streets, if desired. Housekeeping made sure every detail was taken care of daily which made climbing into the crisp white sheets each night a joy. Wonderful, friendly and attentive front desk staff helped us with many reservations and logistics. Breakfast buffet at the hotel’s Angel Restaurant offers all the delicious bites to start your day right complete with custom espresso drinks and was an experience we looked forward to every morning. Also, the location is only a few blocks from the Ponte Vecchio in one direction and Duomo is the other and in the heart of amazing shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel on every level.

We arrived in Italy and planned to make a quick stop in Venice but due to train problems and weather we made a last second decision to stay in Florence instead and I was so lucky to be able to book the Calimala at the last minute. They recently opened the second building where we stayed in a junior suite and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is renovated in a hip, stylish, modern European style that meshes perfectly with the original building. It's hard to find hotels to accommodate three people and we were traveling with our young adult daughter but this small suite was perfect. There was a surprisingly comfortable sofa bed in the main room and a separate bedroom, closet area and the bathroom was beautiful and just large enough. The only complain would be the shower size. The bidet takes up a bit too much real estate in the bathroom which means the shower is a tight squeeze. This particular room had windows looking toward and interior courtyard so not particularly light filled but I do think it cut down substantially on any noise and after and overnight flight it was perfect. The rooftop restaurant and lounge are in the main building and the staff were able to get us in as guests of the hotel instead of us having a lengthy wait (there was already a line at the host stand to get in). We very much appreciated this perk. The rooftop restaurant has amazing views over the city and the weather was just perfect. It's Florence so of course the food and drinks were fabulous and there was live entertainment. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel which was also excellent. The desk arranged to hold our bags so we could continue to sightsee after our check-out and prior to our departure for our trip out to Tuscany.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Calimala. We arrived by taxi from the train station and discovered that we had arrived at the "old building" — there is also a "new building" located across the street, where our room was located.

We had booked a "Comfort Room" and it definitely delivered on that promise. We were on the top floor in a beautifully furnished corner room, which was spacious with a gorgeous mix of contemporary furnishings and old-world charm. Across the street, we had a view of the rooftop restaurant above the old building.

I will say, this hotel is right in the middle of the action in Florence. You can expect a fair amount of city street noise, even/especially at night. Having been city dwellers for much of our lives, this was not an issue for us, but if you're expecting a tranquil weekend in Tuscany you should be aware that this is not quite that. We were able to walk to every single one of our Florence must-sees (including the Uffizi Gallery, Galleria dell'Accademia, and the Duomo), and found that transit to the surrounding areas was also a breeze.

The staff at Hotel Calimala was extremely accommodating and friendly for our small family. The lobby of the new building has a cool bar and restaurant, which we never really got to take advantage of (mostly because we were so busy exploring everything else Florence had to offer). We will definitely return on our next trip.

We stayed here when we returned to Florence for a couple of nights during our tour of Italy. The location is great and hotel styling is tasteful and relaxing.

The reception team kindly moved rooms as we first were placed on a floor with loud children - who were playing, running and shouting in the corridor. The floor we were placed in was much quieter and relaxing.

All of the hotels staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to assist making our stay comfortable. On our first evening we decided to dine at Meze Wild Dinning - which our experience was exceptional and faultless.

Breakfast is fantastic with plenty of choice. We stayed for breakfast in the East location; however, there is an option to dine for breakfast on the rooftop restaurant in the west location around the corner if you so wish.

My only note for improvement would be a better quality hairdryer, that has a defuser attachment, to be provided in the room. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are very spacious. A great hotel in a fantastic location.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 3 days in Florence and had the good fortune to stay at the hotel Calimala. The location was perfect—just a short walk to the Ponte Vecchio and Florence’s other attractions. The room was small (we had a front room with a balcony) but very tastefully furnished combining a modern aesthetic with a rustic Florence feel and had every amenity one would need. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the bathroom had a large shower with beautiful marble floors and walls. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. We rented a car for a drive to Chianti and they gave us meticulous instructions so that we could navigate the restricted zones in the city center which is difficult! Thanks to all for a wonderful stay in Florence. If we return we will be sure to stay at the hotel Calimala!

We only stayed at Hotel Calimala for 2 nights, but we had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Firenze, so it was very easy for us to walk to all the sites, shops, and restaurants we wanted to visit during our short stay.

The hotel staff were also wonderful. We were greeted at check-in with a complimentary welcome drink. Despite paying for early check-in our room was unfortunately unavailable due to a train workers strike that prevented some staff from being at the hotel, so they refunded our early check-in fee and held our luggage for a few hours. However, they did their best to get us a room as soon as one was available and we were still able to check in about an hour earlier than the regular check-in time. When I was having trouble accessing the wifi, one of the hotel staff also helped me trouble-shoot my phone and we figured out the issue together.

We stayed in a Superior Room, which was small, but comfortable. We loved the decor and interior design of the room. The hotel is comprised of two buildings that are across the street from one another and our room was in the building where the reception desk is located. There was a nice bar downstairs on this side of the hotel that we had drinks at a few times. Since breakfast was included in the cost of our stay, we had the choice of eating downstairs at the restaurant in the building where our room was located or dining at the breakfast buffet on the rooftop of the building across the street. Obviously we chose the rooftop and we were not disappointed. The views of Firenze were beautiful from up there! We wished we had made dinner reservations for their restaurant at night, but we had already made reservations elsewhere for our stay.

Despite this being a short stay, it was definitely a memorable one and we look forward to staying here again in the future!

Beyond the amazing location, the staff at Hotel Calimala really made for such a wonderful experience. They were so kind, helpful, and made sure we had the best time visiting their special city. The staff helped us schedule cars, book reservations, and guide us to recommendations throughout our visit. The rooms were modern, big and spotless - we even had drinks at both the lobby bar and the Angel rooftop (which was our favorite rooftop bar of our trip) We highly recommend to not bother looking elsewhere, and we would 1000% come back on our next visit - if we get so lucky!

We decided to venture out and try this hotel instead of the one we usually stay at when we visit Florence. I don’t think we will make that mistake again. The positives of this hotel were the location (though Florence is a very walkable city so a lot of hotels are in great areas) and the staff were very nice and accommodating. Now, we chose a superior room which is the lowest level but did not expect to not have any natural light in the room. It was like staying in a cave. The window looked out into concrete columns and looked directly into another room and did not have curtains. We did ask to upgrade our room but there was no availability. Our shower backed up the first day and the bathroom flooded. Also, we booked a reservation at their rooftop restaurant, Angel, a month in advance and we were sat at a table that looked at the elevator shaft. We asked to be moved and were told no and only those who booked in advance get preferential treatment to the upper areas. I told them I booked a month in advance and then they miraculously found us a table. The dinner was enjoyable and there were at least 5 tables open during the two hours we dined. I am not one to complain but glad I found the courage to say something. The upper area of the restaurant was worth it. The breakfast buffet was good but our first day we had to wait an hour for eggs to come out. My advice if you book, spend even more money and ask for a room with a window that actually has light coming in or else you may become deficient in vitamin d.
