The hotel is located a block off the Piazza S.S. Annunciata on a very quite street. It is a small hotel with very personalized attention to the guest. The room was very nice and the bed comfortable. The staff provided great recommendations for restaurants in the area. The hotel is within walking distance of all of the big attractions but...

Very Charming small hotel that had been a convent in some earlier century. Recommend you pay a little extra for superior room with patio. Good location: Florence is small town and you can see what you want to see within 15 minute walk. Its 5 minute walk to l'accadamia (David really is 17 feet tall), 10 minutes to the Duomo,...

My wife and I stopped here for four nights. We found the personal service shown by ALL staff at this hotel was exceptional; the help at the reception desk was excellent as was the service at breakfast, where breakfast was not a free for all self- service, but was served by very attentive staff. The location was excellent for all...

Historic and pretty hotel in great location: close to a square and Duomo 5 minute walk. Easy to find your way home! Staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants and services. Breakfast is Continental, served at the table (Not buffet), and enough food when you are eating all day in Florence! Room was large although bathroom was small. Safe area....

This hotel features large rooms and high ceilings. It just a couple blocks from the Duomo, so a great location. I was disappointed in the breakfast – it featured fresh bread, but everything else was prepackaged jellies, Nutella, cereal, yogurt.

Very nice Hotel, safe and family friendly. It was warm, cosy and clean with very friendly staff. Breakfast was good and tea and coffee in the room is always a bonus. We were even given free tickets to a classical concert. Short walk to all attractions. Great value for money.

We stayed here for 5days in February 2017, and will be going back! Can not fault it, from the staff to rooms! We had two rooms and both were of a good standard! Everything was cleaned daily and things were replenished too! Christano is a wealth of local knowledge from restaurants to prices of admittance to attractions! Breakfast is continental,...

We had a room for 3 of us and stayed in February. The room was plenty big enough, very charming with a small sofa and a separate raised bed for our daughter. The service was excellent and each night the beds were turned down and we had a small chocolate left on our bedside table. The breakfasts were continental with...

The staff at this hotel were extremely welcoming and very friendly. However that is the only positive I can have about this hotel unfortunately. We were in the room closest to the reception, it was very noisy, the bed wasn't too comfortable and the blankets seemed very old. The hairdryer in the bathroom was nearly as old as the hotel....

I traveled with a group of college students and it gave them the perfect introduction to Italy with its personal, friendly, attentive staff in a beautiful restored monastery. Rooms were unique and very comfortable. Wonderful breakfast. Perfect location. Very nice living rooms, mini bars and relaxing rooms. Very warm, clean and nice bathrooms. There are a range of rooms to...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
