I traveled with a group of college students and it gave them the perfect introduction to Italy with its personal, friendly, attentive staff in a beautiful restored monastery. Rooms were unique and very comfortable. Wonderful breakfast. Perfect location. Very nice living rooms, mini bars and relaxing rooms. Very warm, clean and nice bathrooms. There are a range of rooms to...

A small, comfortable hotel at north-east corner of central Florence, about 200m east of Santissima Annunziata. We stayed 5 nights late Dec/early Jan. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast served at table, with cereal, croissants, rolls, ham, salami, cream cheese, juice and coffee. Wi-fi worked well.

Stayed here for 3 nights around Christmas. The hotel was conveniently located to all major attractions, food, and even laundry. The staff was quite helpful regarding requests on touring sites, tour guides and other things. The rooms were nice for a reasonable price, the breakfast was good, and overall if I came to Florence again I would stay here and...

Four nights at this hotel and couldn't have been happier. The location suited me very well...down a quiet little street a bit away from the action, but a ten minute walk to the Duomo and everything else. The hotel is in a beautiful old building with big, comfortable common rooms oozing shabby-chic charm. The guest rooms room were charming and...

My daughter and I started our visit to Italy in Florence and stayed 3 nights at Morandi Alla Crocetta. The hotel was perfect for us. The rates were more than reasonable, the room was comfortable and quite lovely (it included a good-sized terrace where we could sit outside), and it was in a central location. We were able to walk...

My Mom and I stayed at Morandi alla Crocetta for three nights. The location is close to everything, but not too central or busy. Our room was lovely, comfortable and we were upgraded with a patio. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

This little hotel--12 rooms maybe--was in the heart of Florence and well within walking distance of most of the must see places. Rooms were large as were the bathrooms. The AC worked quite well. Breakfast was included, but it was really not much more than a snack.

We stayed for 5 nights at the Hotel Morandi and we could not have been happier with our choice. It is on a quiet street about 7 minutes to the Duomo. The hotel is charming but the real higlight is the staff. Maurizio, Roland and Christiano could not have been more helpful. They made restaurant reservations for us 3 nights...

This is my 3rd stay at this hotel, though it's been 5 years since I last visited. It's just as wonderful as ever ! The location (near the Accademia and L'Ospedale degli Innocenti) is wonderful as it's on a quiet side street but within walking distance to everything. It was a convent and the rooms are all unique and special....

The Morandi is a small hotel located in a former convent near the Academia museum in Florence. It's easy to walk to most major attractions. Each room is unique, with some more spacious than others. The beds are comfortable, and the hotel is in a quiet location. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful with securing dinner reservations, tours, museum entrance...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
