Wonderful small hotel. Great atmosphere and very pleasant staff. Spent 4 remarkable days in Florence also because I happened to stay in this place. This is definitely a historical hotel. It is furnished with antiques and it felt like a continuation of the wonderful art and history experience this city gives you. Our room was ample and quiet, though facing...

Referred to this hotel by friends. It really made a difference during our stay in Florence. All is unique there: the atmosphere, the staff, many small attentions provided. We very much liked this place because it is like being in a large Florentine home of the past where we could continue the experience of all the beautiful historic sites of...

We loved our time in Florence, what a city! Our accomodation at hotel morandi was very good, our room was quite big by european hotel standards( although our shower was definitely the smallest of the trip... But still worked fine!). Our travelling companions had some difficulties with their bank and the hotel team were really helpful. We also booked a...

This was a very good choice. This small hotel provided excellent accommodation and very valuable assistance. Right from making our booking the hotel was exhaustive of our request of information and took care of our museum entrance reservations. The hotel is filled with original antiques and the atmosphere is that of an old gentile Italian home, which very much added...

We had only one night in Florence at the historic Hotel Morandi Alla Crocetta and it was a fine choice for us. The location is great - - really could not be better - - just a short walk to all of the major interest areas. The hotel is unique - historic, quiet and interesting to explore. The breakfast service...

I would love to give this hotel a better review because the staff was wonderful and the location was fabulous! However, the smell in this building is so bad my sinuses were a mess -- and I never have allergy problems! We were given what looked like the worst room location they had despite paying the higher rate, with the...

Excellent hotel on all accounts. Large comfortable rooms, meticulously clean, lovely sitting areas and courtyard. Unbeatable location - 5 minutes from the Duomo but on a very quiet street. Staff was lovely and helpful. We would love to come back again!

I am a bit late on this reveiw. We stayed at Hotel Morandi Alla Crocetta in Spetember 2011. We were lucky enough to have the "chapel room". The staff was very personable, breakfast was wonderful, the room was quiet and cool in spite of 90 degree F temps during the day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling...

This hotel is excellent in all respects. The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean, the beds are lovely - I slept really well. The staff are so polite and helpful (I knew nothing about Florence, and they were keen to offer advice and help - booking museums for me, suggesting the best restaurants, etc). It's a delightful place - extremely...

Beautiful hotel with authentic art work both in the rooms and about the building. The rooms are large with high ceilings and, most importantly, very quiet. I don't usually sleep that well in hotels but you really can get a proper night's sleep in this one, because it is so quiet. It was formerly a convent I believe, and has...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
