There really is no other hotel quite like this one that I know of.

Even having stayed here 5 or 6 times before over the past 10 years, the beauty of the Torre itself, and of the gardens and the outlook over the city are all still exceptional.

The warmth and quiet efficiency of the staff, the comfort of the rooms, and what must be the most beautiful swimming pool in the world all combine to make this one of the great places to stay.

As a base for exploring Florence, its absolutely perfect, or for the more relaxed traveller, the city can simply be appreciated from a distance.

With only 15-16 rooms, the hotel never feels crowded, even when fully booked, and the breakfast and the poolside lunches are delicious.

For travellers concerned about Social Distancing, this would also be a great place to stay, with the Torre's' huge internal spaces, and its many acres of gardens making it very easy to keep a safe distance from other guests.

Many thanks to Amerigo and Anna for another wonderful visit, and I look forward to returning again very soon.

Room Tip: Best views are from the rooms at the top of the Tower, also both good for families.

Dear Robert and family, How lovely to have met you again. Unfortunately only too briefly because officially I still am cautiously in lockdown. Hopefully you will return one virus-free day so we can have a long satisfying chat over drinks. Thank you, dear Robert, profusely for such a generous glowing description of your stay. We are most delighted that it went smoothly and that all of you were happy here. With many loving wishes, Amerigo

Wonderful place to stay. The building oozes history and has been tastefully restored without losing any of its authenticity. We spent hours just wandering the grounds and sitting looking at the building. The building itself and its grounds are really a thing of a beauty and you cant say that for too many hotels. The view over florence is breathtaking and photos can't do it justice.

The employees are generally excellent. Professional while still friendly. Special kudos to the guys at the door and staffing the bar at the pool who were both very charming.

Small points to be aware of.

There is no on-site restaurant so if having 24/7 ability to access food is important to you this mightn't be the right choice. But for most people the offering is more than adequate. They can prepare a variety of excellent salads for lunch (quality was really high w/lots of ingredients straight from their own garden), have a well stocked bar and dinner can be ordered in from a local restaurant (food is solid - unspectacular but tasty and more than fine if you want to have a lazy day where you dont leave the hotel). Florence isnt far away and you'll likely venture out to eat most evenings.

You can see the hotel is still struggling with breakfast since the covid changes. The waitress delivered tea/coffee and a basket of bread/croissants & then never reappeared. After 30 minutes we eventually left assuming that was all that was available & I know several other guests did the same. It turned out later that fruit and other options are available if you ask but for some reason this seems to be kept secret! So just remember to ask what's available, as you are paying €10 per person for it.

All in all though, this was the best part of our Italian holiday. It truly is the dream of living in a villa in the Tuscan hills with the added bonus of being walking distance to one of the worlds great historic cities.

Dear Guest, The brilliant review you wrote on how much you enjoyed your stay here in Bellosguardo made us feel that all our efforts behind the scenes to improve the hotel and service without ever altering its character and atmosphere are appreciated and well worth it. We are sincerely grateful to you. We offer all our apologies regarding the mishaps you encountered with breakfasts. We try to give all the necessary information about the new rules due to Covid-19 upon arrival (written and by word). A form to choose from with the breakfast items is also provided. Understandably, many guests who are on holidays and arrive tired, do not feel like wasting their holiday reading and choosing the next day breakfast and certainly the porters sometimes fail to transmite the most important information about the matter. In order to solve this problem we decided to print a detailed list to be displayed on the breakfast tables from which each person can be reminded about the choices. However, in order to provide a decent service in which the maid can organize her work and not make the client wait too long, we still require that the breakfast form is filled the previous day. All this will be totally solved once this cursed virus dies down and we are allowed to return to our rich buffet. We trust you understand and hope that we will be able to welcome you back one day with open arms. Thank you.

As the name of the property says, it is a beautiful view. This old villa turned family-fun hotel is a jewel of a property. It boast an incredible of Florence and the surrounding countryside. The staff was at all times very kind and attentive. The pool is step back in time along with the surrounding gardens. It is only a quick 10/15min taxi ride from the heart of Florence.

Each room exudes historical charm and have all the necessary modern amenities. The bed was very comfortable. The WiFi had good connection throughout the property. The breakfast was excellent.

This is not a corporate hotel (which is why I enjoyed my stay there so very much) however if you are looking for that style and require easy direct access for touring the city, the location of this hotel maybe a drawback for you. Also the lack of an onsite restaurant could be an issue for some. The hotel does offer a snack bar with cold options only for the pool and a limited takeout menu for dinner only.

I would say if your are looking for an escape and want to step back into timeless retreat, this property is for you. The whole experience was from start to finish wonderful.

Dear valued guest, Thank you so very much for all you write. You are most kind. Yes, we are a different type of hotel. As you say, a step back in time when the pace of life was more relaxed and perhaps more beautiful. The most important thing to us is that our staff should be unobtrusive, yet attentive to all the needs of our clientele and that our guests feel at home here. We hope to welcome you back soon. Thank you!

I am a daydreaming American reflecting back on past vacation wondering when I can travel again. I am a New Yorker and a new transplant to Boston. I had a pleasure of visiting this property back in 2018 with my family and two children (6 months and 4 years old at the time). As an American, we haven't been trained to appreciate old world and an archictural charm of the past. We spent the day in hustle and bustle of busy Florence waiting in line and we all sighed a breath of relief when it was time to go back to Bellosguardo. Time seemed to stand still at Bellosguardo, we spent a day looking around the property appreciating the history. My children had fun feeding the donkeys and the cats who followed chef Anna. We had a cooking class with Chef Anna and it was a memorial experience for all. Chef Anna assisted my child with cooking spaghetti, she taught us how to make fresh tomato sauce, and she entertained us with her well versed American politics (face it, we can go on for hours talking about Trump!)

I am here daydreaming about past vacation and this came up as my #1 place to return when the virus is over. We pray for all of you at Bellosguardo and we miss Chef Anna and her amazing spicy spray. She packed me an amazing homemade spice pepper spray. Did I mention I forgot my sunglasses and they graciously sent it back to New York? Also, one of the staff brought baked goods, cheese, and coffee to our room when we missed breakfast. I was so thankful that I didn't have to venture out of property to fetch food for the children and coffee was much appreciated staying up all night with my infant.

Can't wait to go back when this is all over, we miss you all and hope you are all safe.

We were the only guests as Italy turned into full lockdown. We had had a few days in Venice of empty galleries and streets, and appalling ‘take away’ dinners. So were not looking forward to dinners in Florence. But the proprietress very kindly offered to cook every evening (and she teaches cookery classes). The combination of this, good hotel wine from their estate, very friendly and helpful staff on top of an amazing room with perfect views over Florence, and walking through the hotel olive groves to the Ponte Vecchio and the centre made for an enchanting 8 day stay. Empty Uffizi gallery and streets made it a once in a lifetime experience (ditto Venice).

Bellosguardo was in a perfect location (for us), outside of the very busy centre of Florence, and with magnificent views of the city below.
The hotel is beautiful and full of fine antiques, breakfast on the (huge) terrace is civilised and unhurried. As another reviewer has written, it is a shame the bar is not a bit more inviting in the evening.
The staff are charming and experienced, and a cooking class with Ana was a great way to spend an evening, eating produce and drinking wine from the estate.
A key tip we were given by Roberto (and everyone who visits needs to know!) is that guests can walk through the beautiful olive groves and next to the vineyards of the estate down to a street leading to Porto Romano. It is a walk in the country where you emerge through the gate into the city. V special.

We spent 6 nights at Torre Di Bellosguardo with our 3 teenage/grown up sons. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of Florence with truly spectacular views from the bedrooms and grounds across the city. Breakfast on the outside 1st floor terrace was casual. Short walk into town through olive groves to Porto Romano for a coffee stop. Mornings spent exploring the city returning to the hotel via the Boboli Gardens for lunch and afternoon relaxation by the pool. Evenings we dined outside at Trattorias we know well, 4Leoni, Alla Bettola, del Orto...
All possible with social distancing.
Essential to book entry to museums well in advance.

A truly wonderful stay at a magical hotel, cannot wait to return.

I have stayed at this property before (and I have reviewed it before as well) so I knew what to expect and I can happily say I was not disappointed. This hotel exudes charm in every corner and the staff could not be more helpful and courteous. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown this is your place. As noted by others the view is outstanding and the property is beautifully maintained.

This hotel does not feel like so many hotels these days, there is no corporate furniture or decoration by committee. No focus group was consulted on how to arrange the pool furniture. Instead you feel as if you are a guest of the family. It is stress free and easy.

That being said fair warning there is no restaurant on the property (and I hope never will be!) so you have to plan your meals accordingly. There is a very limited menu by the pool and they can arrange take-away to be delivered. But your best options are to dine out. That being said its a quick taxi ride to where ever you need to go in the centro.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I will be returning.

This is such an amazing place on a lot of different levels. Throughout the time that my daughter and I spent there, it felt like we were in a movie. From a stunning, authentic 15th century hotel building with sophisticated winter garten, to an incredibly well-groomed vast green area, a sky-blue pool and, of course, the unquestionably finest view of Florence, everything, including the wine of their own small vineyard has been infused with the elegant and refined taste of the owners.
The last but not least is the professionalism and the greatest possible sensivity of the staff, who excel at making you feel taken care of, yet left to yourself. At some point it seemed that the whole Tuscany belonged only to the two of us.
Heaven on earth with the best views of magnificent Florence. The priceless gift for a beauty loving souls yearning for relaxation. Thank you from the bottoms of our (truly rested) hearts, unforgettable Torre di Bellosguardo.

For my first visit to Florence, no other hotel would have been as special at Torre di Bellosguardo. It is the most stylish old villa, with a handsome tower dating back to Dante's time, set in glorious gardens cascading through lush terraces down the hill towards the city. The views from the top gardens and the house are spectacular, with Florence spread out below you, surrounded by the hills of Tuscany. An elegant swimming pool near the top is a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the place, well out of the noise and bustle of the crowded city, but within 15 minutes walk of the centre, through olive groves and vegetable gardens, and a 5 minute taxi ride back.
The rooms of the hotel are spacious and comfortable, from its exquisitely decorated reception room, to the plant-fringed conservatory, the airy breakfast terrace, to our charming bedroom and bathroom, furnished with lovely old Tuscan furniture.
We were well looked after by all the friendly staff, and Roberto in reception made us feel very welcome, researching queries online and helping us to find places in the city. Both my friend and I are keen gardeners, and we loved the beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers, each thoughtfully identified with a label! We also enjoyed a delightful conversation with Ana, wife of the owner, Amerigo, about the design and planting.

Altogether, we had an unforgettable stay at Bellosguardo, and can't wait to return to it again!

No, it is an outdoor pool. Early May is typically not warm enough in Florence. We were there in October. There are lounges. The view from the pool area is magnificent and the grounds are lovely to walk.

There are sufficient full size sun loungers at the pool. Plus there is a little pool house with a member of staff handing out towels and taking orders for drinks etc. The view of Florence from the pool side is extraordinary. First thing and in the evening you can listen to the church bells from all of Florence ringing.
