First, it was a short walk from the train station. We took a cab, because I did not check the map first and I the cab driver looked at me like an idiot. He turned one corner and it was there. So it is a great location next to the train station. Not a bad walk to the duomo or...

Great location and nice, modern lobby. The room was a bit antiquated but I had a stunning view of Florence with a cute little balcony (which would've been awesome if it was summer and not freezing). The bathroom was ok... small shower typical in Italy, which is fine because I'm small myself, but not designed very well as the place...

First floor rooms: not sound proof at all, despite their very beautiful attic-configuration. 2nd floor rooms can be extra small with tiny-dwarf-sized baths. If you go in summer you can enjoy the beautiful patio with pool, an extra value for sure. The personnel is very kind and efficient, except one lady at the breakfast room, more annoyed by customers than...

We just got back from our trip to Italy. I read the various reviews about this hotel before we left. After staying there for 4 days, the one thing this hotel has is a good location near the train station within easy walking distance to the inner core of Florence. The hotel rooms vary as all European hotels do, but...

Me and my husband stayed here 3 nights and had a really nice time. The hotel was clean, close to the railwaystation and location wise close most sightseeing tips. The room was pleasant and roomy enough for us and the bathroom small, but nice. Really nice to have aircon since it was really hot outside, Breakfast was average but good....

We visited Florence for a few days and stayed at the Croce Di Malta. It was just ok. The rooms were 'tired'. The bathrooms were efficient but small. The beds were very firm which suited our taste. The Hotel Staff were all very nice. The complimentary breakfast was average. We were coming off a 5 star stay at a hotel...

I stayed here with my wife for one night after being in Florence for 4 days because i changed my flight and the hotel i was staying in was fully booked to extend for a night. First I'm not an extremely picky person, but this was a joke....the hotel is not a 4-star hotel at all, the building inside is...

We stayed 2 nights as part of our tour package. We loved the room we had on the 5th floor. The room was small, to be expected in Italy, and we loved that it was small. We were not spending lots of time in our room, just sleeping, changing clothes, the basics, However, we had a small balcony overlooking the...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
