Location is Excellent: walking distance from the train station and major attractions; self service laundry is just across the road; excellent restaurant in-house. Room is clean and comfortable. Ground level public area has good atmosphere and reflects that history of the location. The room is normal business hotel kind of style. Breakfast was decent.

Not much to look at from the outside, on a typically busy street, but very nice once through the door. The hotel opens up into a couple of quiet courtyards and a small garden. Our room (street facing) was noisy at night with the window open, and the aircon wasn't cool enough to have the windows closed, even in September....

The only good thing we can say about this hotel is the location. Very close to bus station and easy walk to the rest of the city. We did not get the free wi-fi that was advertised we had to pay 5 euro a day for very poor quality. The hotel is old and not vintage but circa 1980's shabby...

Dear Guest, I'm really sorry that you didn't like our room # 222, it's a room that many other cleints like and appeciate for the quietness seen that this room is facing the garden, in this case you could ask us to change the room as we have 80 rooms and they are all different one to the other ....

We loved our stay here. Very close to Railway Station and Bus Station. We enjoyed walking to all the places of interest in Florence from our hotel, thanks to its central location. Very good bath room, spacious compared to other hotels in Italy we stayed. The breakfast was sumptuous. Only problem we had was that the Wifi not available in...

We continue to stay at the Rivoli because it is a comfortable place and so well located to both the station of Santa Maria Novella and Centro Storico.  The staff are always helpful and cheery and ready to oblige immediately.  It is difficult to find something new to say but this time I discovered that Sani, the evening barman, makes...

We arrived by train and the hotel was no more than 5 mins walk away. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. The bell boy assisted us to our room and first impression was good size room and everywhere throughout the hotel very clean and tidy. The breakfast was typical continental but a sufficient choice to fill up before...

Very nice hotel near train station. Convenient to market and central Florence. Breakfast excellent. Front desk very helpful. Room nice with patio. Bathroom was oddly designed and tight yet functional.

I paid for 3 people but had to ask for service EVERY day (towels, glasses, toiletries). NO WIFI OR INTERNET. I struggled entering and departing with luggage for 3 as I was with 2 seniors and those at the front desk, feet away, watched without helping, both times. The beds are terrible.

Dear Mrs Ciaccia, Thanks for sending a comment on our hotel and services. I'm really surprised reading this as, during your stay here at the Rivoli, none of those "problems" has been reported, and this made it impossible to us improving and giving you the services you where expecting. I hope you will give us a second chance to give...

The room and service at the hotel were very good, but the extra charges were somewhat disappointing. This was the only hotel of this standard in 4 weeks of travel in Italy and Croatia that charged for Wifi (5 Euro for 24 hours per device). And while it could be that our reading of the menu at breakfast was incorrect,...

We were in this hotel for 3nights. It's very close to the metro station and walking distance to all attractions. Room was decent, the bathroom was small but very clean. Breakfast was great, and staff was very friendly. Overall a nice stay

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the old town of Florence, the Hotel Rivoli offers class hospitality with charm, as well as spacious and elegantly decorated hotel rooms and suites. The Hotel Rivoli is a 4-star superior hotel that is set inside a restored 14th-century Franciscan convent, where guests can breath the charming and unique atmosphere of this ancient historic building in the city of Florence. The restoration has highlighted the architectural details dating back to 1500 such as arches and vaults, coffered ceilings and stone columns. Guests are welcomed in an enchanting setting full of cozy atmosphere, embellished by refined common areas, which are conceived as an oasis of tranquility away from the hectic pace of the city. The Internal Patio, which was obtained from a complete renovation of the Franciscan cloister, is now dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing, featuring an unforgettable 20 sqm-whirlpool that is also open during the winter with a constant water temperature of 36° C. The location could not be better, a few steps from the Santa Maria Novella railway station, the Duomo Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, opposite the ancient and famous Officina Profumo di Santa Maria Novella, and the most important museums. In addition to the interior elegant and spacious patio, the Hotel Rivoli guests can enjoy the quiteness of the small "garden of medlar", an exceptional lounge where to spend moments of real relax; in summer time the garden is available for breakfast and dinners prepared and served by Benedicta Restaurant , 3 Michelin forks. ... more   less
