The exterior and entrance of the Grand Hotel Adriatico is a bit of a worry on first approach - it's boarded up with plywood and it isn't terribly obvious where you actually go to get in to the place. However, once inside (via the car park) it's fine and the room we were allocated on the sixth floor was nice...

We stayed for 5 days in this hotel. The location is very good, close to the main train station if you are planning day trips ( we went to Pisa and the Mall) The room was decent , a bit old style and no tea/coffee facility provided. There is no room service in this hotel and the breakfast is poor.

Thanks for this short review, it's not true that we do not have room service, you can have it calling the bar or just leaving outside the door the appropriate form. Concerning the kettlle, is on request and if you needed one you had to inform our reception and it would be a pleasure for us to take one with...

It's a very good hotel to be staying in.A lot of eating places around.Great breakfast.walking distance to all the tourist spots.very close to Firenzie train station. One should be aware that they have a high city tax over and above the normal hotel cost of 9 Euros per person.

Many thanks for this short but complete review. I confirm that in Florence exists a city stay tax to pay of Euro 4,50 (for four stars hotels) per person, per night, to add to the room charge and you can find this information on each website you made your booking. Two block walk to the Arno. Close to quaint restaurants and local grocery. Take a map of the city found at the front desk and explore this stunning city. Room was comfortable and clean. Very roomy and relaxing.

This hotel was great for us, an ideal situation as realively close to all sights to see. As you wandered about , you came across things, literally around the corner. Not as far to the iconic areas as you think. The duomo, maybe 10 minutes. Santa nouvella church 5 minutes. Meals were breakfast included, which had a good selection of...

We stayed here for 3 days as part of our honeymoon and were pleasantly surprised by the standard of our room. Very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The reception area needs updated but that didn't affect our stay. Breakfast was adequate for us with cereals, croissants and some hot food. Very easy for us to walk around Florence...

It is always great when you can find parking in Florence and it was easy here. Not far from everything and a nice, helpful staff. The rooms were nice and well appointed. This hotel is in a fairly good location with many great restaurants nearby (see my review for Trattoria Armando, yum!). Most of the major attractions were at least a 15 min walk away, depending on your pace. The bathroom was clean and very spacious, and offered a hair dryer and toiletries. Like most European hotels, small wash cloths aren't provided...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
