Stayed twice in Grand Hotel Adriatico during August last year. Chose the property for the combination of relatively "reasonable" price and close proximity to the centre of Florence and Railway station. Have to admit that I am a bit surprised with the chain of positive reviews which seem to overpraise this hotel. Will try to explain why: Positives first and...

This was a 4 star hotel but was not as good as the other Best Western hotels we had stayed in rated 3 stars. The staff was helpful but russhed. No internet and parking was 20e per day.

Less than a 5 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station on the west side of the city center. Room was clean and comfortable. Full breakfast provided and there is outdoor garden terrace where you can eat your breakfast which is lovely. Wi-Fi is offered for a fee. Walking distance to key attractions, restaurants and bars. Highly recommend it.

Location of the hotel is 5 minute walk from the train station. The hotel room is small but everything is functional. Our room is clean and everything works as it should. Breakfast is included. Nice selection of cold meats and hot dishes, including eggs and bacon. 15 to 20 minutes walk to Duomo and tourist area. Hotel location seemed safe...

This hotel is a short walk from the Florence SM rail station. While their website makes it look small and quirky as are so many BWs, this one had the most impressive lobby I've seen and the floors in the rooms were wood in great condition, not tile or carpet. I was extremely impressed with the overall cleanliness and condition...

This Hotel is very easily accessible from the station at Florence. It is about an easy 10 minute walk and the way is flat. The Hotel is very clean and there is a lovely atmosphere, created by the very friendly and attentive staff. All the usual attractions are close by, the musuems, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, etc. The breakfast is very...

About 5-minutes by foot from SMN Station. The hotel itself is nice but the location is a bit questionable because we did not feel comfortable passing by certain portions of the street where interesting characters seem to be loitering around at night. Their breakfast buffet was great... they have scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and toasted bread for crying out loud!...

It is quite close to the train station and the bus terminal. When we arrived it was dark and we had to walk through a busy but dark small lane. There were quite a few people at several eateries. We were not very sure of the venue at the first sight, later we realised that there are quite a good...

The staff is professional, and very helpful, and the Director/Manager Mr. Daniele, made sure that everything was in good order. The room was clean and tastefully appointed. The buffet breakfast was eye appealing and had a large variety of fresh foods; meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit and baked items, etc. The hotel is also convenient to the train...

Stayed there for 3 nights. Not the best location but a fair price. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. 5 minute walking distance from the Florence train station. Rooms were reasonably in size, quiet and VERY clean. Staff was very willing to help. Breakfast was good with a nice selection. Wait staff were all well trained and accommodating....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
