We chose Florence for our honeymoon and picked this charming boutique hotel based on the it's location and rooms seen on their website. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from train station and upon arrival were greeted by very polite and knowledgeable reception staff. Our bags were taken to our room and we were given a complimentary bottle of prosseco...

The staff members were so friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and had a lovely view. The furniture was old and charming, but the bathroom was large and updated. Breakfast was the best I've ever experienced in a hotel.I felt like I was dining in a palace(which I was). I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and it was excellent on both occasions. It is fairly close to the train station about a block from the Santa Maria Novella Church. It's about 3 blocks from the Duomo. It is an old palazzo that has been converted to a hotel. It has charming, elegant furnishings in...

Staff are helpful and couldn't be better. The hotel is close to almost every attraction of Florence. The hotel has large rooms with beautiful furniture and great breakfast. There is a solarium when you want breakfast overlooking the city when the sun is out. Restaurants and cafe beside the hotel and across from the hotel there are many shops. If...

Hotel Paris is made up of two or three adjoining palazzos. There are some very nice original features dating from the 1500s. But, it's such a maze of stairways and doors that it reminds me of an Escher drawing. While I appreciate its quirkiness, the first couple of days I had to drop breadcrumbs to find my way back to...

We had a 2 floor room, which sounds quite exotic, but really wasn't. The furnishings and decor are very dated, but if can look past that, it was a rather charming and unique hotel. The bathroom was extremely small, but adequate. The hotel is very close to the train station and also to Il Duomo. If you are not planning...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
