A really pleasant hotel 15minute walk from the main centre. The roof terrace is a real bonus. Staff were all very helpful and rooms were clean and spacious. We had an excellent meal in the hotel and the choice for breakfast was really good. A lovely place to come back to after a hectic day out. The walk along by...

This hotel was charming with a very helpful and efficient staff. We walked to many places because it was centrally located and near the Arno River. The room was clean with a private balcony. I would stay here again when in Florence.

the hotel was a 15 minute busy walk over cobble stones and loads of traffic but do-able and not too hard if you dont have too many bags! The roof top garden was lovely and the restaurant was nice too with decent food. breakfast was ok, not outstanding.. They gave me a kettle for my room which is important for...

We stayed for two nights. Close to the train station. 10-15 minutes walk from central attractions. Helpful reception staff. Rooftop restaurant was a wonderful breakfast and dining experience. Pool and outdoor lounge area have a great view of the city.

We stayed in this hotel for one night and would say it wasn't that special. Room was not too tidy and it was a bit noisy during the night. The breakfast was quite poor and service in the hotel was not good enough. Have to say I was disappointed after paying 150€/night for this experience. Wanted to give some feedback...

We were most impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. We arrived at mid-day, prior to our room being ready, to find our luggage safely installed in the room upon our return. The shower was one of the best we've encountered in Europe, and the bed very comfortable. The location is excellent as it is close to the railroad station,...

Very nice, updated hotel. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Hotel layout is different but each room seems nice. Nice pool on the roof and lovely rooftop dining for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Food was good. At night they had music on the deck which was very enjoyable.

This was our favourite hotel on our recent holiday. Lots of character (it's not for those who want everything ultramodern) and very comfortable. The restaurant is on the roof with views across the Florentine rooftops to the Duomo and other landmarks. Dinner up there is quite special and the food excellent. Breakfast, with a plentiful spread, is also served up...

I recently stayed here with my sister Lain we shared a double room which was ideal for the two of us, clean and spacious. The hotel rooftop bar and restaurant is perfect for relaxing and for a few drinks in the evening but I most enjoyed taking in the view at breakfast - when even accommodated my gluten diet! Great...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
