We found Florence a great city to walk to most hotels work well but the Calzaiuoli was really good as we were out late at night and the walk to our place was always short from most of the Piazzas around us. The room we had also seemed big in comparison to most European hotels. The bathroom was an okay...

We were on a 24 day holiday throughout Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. This hotel was one of our favorites (the other one was La Torretta in Manarola). The location is wonderful. A few minutes to the Duomo, a few minutes to Uffizi, 10 minutes to Accademia, 15 minutes to St. Croce, easily within 20 minutes of most, if not all...

Stayed 4 nights in mid-June. Location can't be beat - on main pedestrian street between Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. Front desk staff helpful. Wonderful breakfast variety. Room was clean and modern. No street noise whatsoever with window closed. I highly recommend.

The service and attitude of hotel was extremely poor. We were moved to a replacement hotel upon arrival due to "technical difficulties" in Calzaiouli, however when we went back an hour later to reflect our disappointment in the replacement hotel, we were faced with another large group with twenty other customers who had managed to check in successfully. When we...

Right in the heart of Florence, just a 1 minute walk to the Duomo. Very clean, comfortable room. Ours was one of the few rooms that also had a window in the bathroom. This window was not soundproofed and you could hear just how lous the street was at night when in the bathroom. But outside the bathroom, it was...

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. This was the smallest hotel we stayed at in Italy. The bathroom is tiny and there is not too much room to move around the room. As others have said the location is excellent our room was right on the main street it was a bit loud but not a problem for...

I traveled with 3 friends to Florence this Month and had the pleasure of spending 3 nights in Hotel Calzaiuoli. The hotel is a 3 star gem in the middle of Florence on a street making walking easy to all the important tourist spots. The rooms/bathrooms are small but very clean and well appointed. Although there was minimal street noise...

This was our FAVORITE hotel during our stay in Italy. We stayed in Rome, Tuscany and Venice but Hotel Calzaiuoli was the best bang for the buck. 1. Location: This hotel was smack dab in the middle of every major sight in Florence. Everything was in walking distance: Major train station only 10-15 minutes, Duomo 3-5 minutes, Piazza della Signoria...

This was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The location is wonderfully convenient, the decor is beautiful and luxurious, everything sparkles and the staff are very pleasant. Breakfast was delicious and relaxed unlike the ruck and maul of the previous morning in Pisa (I was almost trampled by a dozen ferocious middle-aged Americans!). The minibar was, surprisingly, better...

This hotel was so wonderful I thought the rates must have been wrong! It is right in the center of everything, the rooms are beautiful, and the staff was wonderful. I cant wait to go back!

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
