Great location, but what really makes this hotel is the service and the quality of the rooms. I had a junior suite, which was incredibly spacious, with a lovely bathroom and bedroom. The breakfast is one of the better ones I had in Italy as well. Only two things to note: - the rooms are not equipped with proper desks,...

Dear Caroline B, Thank you very much for having stayed with us. I am glad that our services have contributed to a nice stay in Florence. For the benefit of our mutual readers I will add some notes. As to desk in the rooms: the hotel is not at all standardized and every room (also in the same room category)...

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and enjoyed its services. The room was quiet and bed was very comfortable. It was within walking distance to most attractions. Breakfast was excellent and of high quality. Highly recommend.

I'm not reviewing the entire hotel but only the rooftop bar because I think it deserves some attention and because you can get there even if you're not a hotel customer. One word: incredible! The view and the attire of the venue is indeed lovely. Go there to enjoy a glass of champagne or wine at about 7.00pm in early...

I stayed in the Grand Hotel Minerva for about a week and truly enjoyed my stay. Front desk was very accommodating and helpful with all needs and requests (a blowdryer). The location is absolutely ideal and would stay here again simply for that. Located in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, it is about 5 minutes from the shops of Florence...

We stayed in this hotel recently for 6 nights as a family of four in one of the family suites. This was an excellent hotel in a prime location and we definitely enjoyed our time here. A few thoughts 1. The hotel is being renovated and they are aware of this. To make up for it they had a "free...

This hotel is conveniently located to all the Florence attractions. The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. We traveled with our family in February and had a lovely stay. We arrived to Florence by train and had an easy walk to the hotel from the train station. We loved the beautifully appointed and...

Dear weblakefun, we’re truly happy me contributed to enjoy Florence. By the way, renovation works will be over in max 10 day, when we will open the last rooms. We look forward to your next visit, maybe during the late spring or summer time, when temperatures allow our guests also to enjoy our pool. Filippo Burroni – General Manager

Brilliant, super friendly staff, fantastic location - 3 minutes from the station and no more than a 15 minute walk for the furthest main attraction (five for Duomo). Lovely, newly refurbished rooms. Top breakfast. We booked this hotel for its terrace and city view, so were massively disappointed that it was shut for refurbishment - we wished that they had...

Dear Colewell, thank you for having chosen our hotel and for sharing your experience on the web. I’m sorry that during this period one cannot enjoy the entirety of the terrace. Actually its bigger portion is currently not accessible because we are working on the pool itself that will be operating as usual from May onwards. We look forward to...

I stayed 5 nights at this gloriously contemporary and old world hotel. The staff are amazingly glad to help you. The breakfast is amazingly delicious and satisfying. The piazza is amazingly fun and quaint. The location is amazingly well situated. My time here? Amazing. Do yourself a favor and take the staff recommendations for restaurants. I have never had pasta...

Surprisingly well located a few steps from the main train station, this recently renovated hotel alows you to go everywhere in Florence by walking. Our room (#504) was something incredible: lots of space, well furnished and comfortable to the max. The bathroom is something unique: incredible space and design. The staff is the warmest you could expect. Wonderful breakfast. Take...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
