The hotel's location was perfect. I walked to the landmarks from the hotel and it doesn't take long at all. Also, the room was very spacious and two bottles of spring water were free. I stayed in three hotels during my Euro trip for a week, this one was my favourite out of three. Also, it is close to the...

This hotel reception staff where extremely friendly and helpful. Whilst the stay was very comfortable I dud feel that the hotel is in need of an upgrade. We had a lovely view of the square and was very central which made getting around very easy.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay at the Malaspina Hotel. Located in lovely area and within walking distance to shops, market and restaurants. Continental breakfasts were more than adequate. We requested a ground floor room as one of our travelers was in a wheelchair. There was a lift to take them to the breakfast area and if you used the side...

A pleasant hotel situated an easy walk from the railway station and shops yet not noisy. Good room, clean, fairly quiet, staff friendly, good choice of food for breakfast, though sadly no fresh fruit.

Nice clean hotel situated Close to the centre of Florence, a short walk to the train station, central market and the duomo. Hotel was clean and the staff helpful without being overly chatty. The breakfast was ok however there was no fruit available and a rather abrupt sign telling visitors that no food was to be taken away. Asking for...

You work hard for your money, spend it elsewhere. Dirty hotel with staff who treat guests like an inconvenience. The photos say it all, black mould under the window and a filthy bathroom. Spending time writing this review is annoying me because I have already wasted heart beats staying at this hotel.

Florence is my favorite Italian city and I so wish this hotel would have stepped it up but it was just ok. the location is great though, just a few blocks from the train station and right at Piazza Independenza but the service was ok. The front desk agent had really bad odor which could be smelled all over the...

We spent three nights at the Malaspina hotel and I think that it is an average/good hotel. The hotel is old fashioned and a bit worn in places, but it is clean and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and the double bed was large with a firm mattress. We had a window that opened out onto the square which was...

You get what you paid for: quite clean, but a bit old school, for example the socket was broken in the bathroom. But the breakfast was really good, good orange juice, croissants and very good coffee. Location is good as well, 15 minutes walk from the city centre, but still quiet. Shops and restaurants are 5 minutes walk.

Central, good position, easy to get to all touristic places, at a walking distance to the Train Station; average but healthy breakfast, we had a nice twin room on the 3rd, with old classical furniture, good bathroom and a view to the park/square. I'd recommend it to my friends for a 4-5 days stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With the same hospitality accorded Dante at the Castello di Fosdinovo in Lunigiana, the descendants of the Marquis Malaspina have opened their Florence residence on Piazza dell’Indipendenza to offer modern hospitality with that touch and culture that makes Hotel Malaspina a truly charming hotel. The lady of the house, Benedetta Torrigiani Malaspina, has created elegant rooms with period furniture with inviting halls and parlors, where the intimate atmosphere resembling a private home is enhanced by the excellent comforts, superior among those proposed by 3 star hotels in Florence. Starting with the garage just steps from the hotel (a valet takes your car and brings it back when you want it) and reception open 24h.The TV room and lobby are very pleasant, ideal situations for relaxing or socializing over a cup of coffee or glass of Tuscan wine served by the bar reserved for guests and open from 8 in the morning until midnight. Those staying at Hotel Malaspina for business can also use a conference room which can hold up to 20 people. The pretty breakfast room offers a plentiful buffet with sweet and savory foods, typical Florentine sweets, juices and hot beverages. Guests can obtain all the information they need at the reception for visiting the city and our concierge service makes reservations for tickets to the most important museums and sights, music and theater performances, recommends and makes reservations for restaurants, guided tours and tours to the surrounding areas and transfers to and from the airport (plane and train tickets can also be purchased). ... more   less
