Room was big and comfortable. The desk reception was very nice and helped us with the map and offered us tours (which we didn't need, but was nice to know about). Breakfast was okay but had a good selection of different items. Hotel was a 15 minute walk from the city's center but close to the train station.

NH Anglo American is in a quite residential neighbourhood near the Train Station largely removed from all the tourist traps. The hotel is mostly modern and the rooms large and the staff helpful. It has the split double bed with the seam in the middle, hard to find a legitimate king size bed in Europe. The bath rooms were clean...

This hotel has a Victorian feel to it, with a charming central gallery and courtyard. The location is very close to the river walk, on the west side of the city. There are many little cafes and restaurants close by but it is somewhat outside the heart of Florence with regard to sightseeing so a taxi or a longish walk...

This hotel is exactly what we were looking for in Italy. Traditional feeling yet modern and clean. Couldn't fault the room and really enjoyed the breakfast and the espresso coffee. Staff were fantastic and were always on hand. The beautiful walk into the centre of Florence was about 20 mins; the Arno is a must to walk alongside. Florence as...

We stayed at the hotel for a week and we just loved every minute of our visit. Nice, clean rooms, friendly staff, so very good breakfast, calm surroundings just a short walk from the city centre. Our stay couldn't have been better, so thanks a lot to all the kind staff of NH Firenze Anglo American.

This hotel is in a nice area. It's around 20-25 minutes to walk al centro storico but as we are both walkers we were not bothered. It is 10 minutes alla stazione do ideal for a trip out of town to Siena etc. This hotel is also in a less tourist area. Consequently it is a little quieter with more...

We stayed here for a week in September and enjoyed it very much. Staff was great, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was adequate. The courtyard was a pleasant place to spend time with a glass of beer and chatting about the day. The walk along the river (15 minutes) was beautiful - especially walks back enjoying the sunset. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
