I paid 85 per night and it's not worth it. The whole hotel is very dirty, the bathroom is small (I have to open the door to clean my theeth) and the rooms are not good. Good things: it's in a very good place and you have wonderful views from the terrace.

The staff were friendly and the room seemed clean. The bathroom, however, was cramped and very difficult to use. The water pressure was terrible which proved taking a shower nearly impossible. Our group, which was spread out over five rooms across the hotel, found this to be a problem as well. The hand towels are cloth dinner napkins and the...

We booked a room only with my best friend. When we arrived we had to wait until 2pm to check in. The personnel was not welcoming at all. When we arrived at 2pm to check in they told us that we have to transfer to another hotel for the night because the room was not available. We told them that...

We arrived at the medici hotel to check in and were offered 'the apartment'.. we thought you beauty itl be private and we were told by the receptionist that it will be quiet as there was a school group staying at the hotel also. The 'apartment ' was 3 blocks from the actual hotel. We were given the keys and...

The location is amazing!!!! Right next to the Duomo and 10 minutes walk from the train station but there was no wifi at all.... And on my last day there was no water in the room. Bathroom very small so if you want to take a shower you would have to make a mess of the room.

This two star hotel is very central and the top floor balcony has magnificent views, but the place hasn't changed in years and badly needs redecorating. It feels run down; a lick of paint would make all the difference. Wi-fi, but only in first floor dining room. Basic breakfast - just rolls and coffee from machine.

Awful. 100% an absolutely, trip-ruining experience. My girlfriend, myself, and two of our relatives visited Florence together for a short two-day stay. This was our second time staying close to the Duomo, so we were somewhat familiar with what to expect from a room around this price range; in terms of comfort and amenities. AKA, we expected nothing extravagant; maybe...

Perfect location. Great sightseeing base and a definite travellers type hotel. No frills but very very clean. Exceptionally helpful staff. Fantastic value. Ten minute walk from the bus station, Domo, Uffizi etc. Lovely roof terrace with great views. No need to slog up towers! I suggest ear plugs. It is in the city centre! Could not fault it for the...

As a frequent traveler I do not expect much of hotels anymore, especially if I just book a low-star hotel. Usually I am faced with horrible rooms and disgusting service attitude. To be honest, it's the same in most of the 5-star hotels just the attitude is even worst ;-) The staff of Hotel Medici simply blow me away. They've...

We stayed in this hotel last December 22 to 25, 2015. The location is perfect as it is in the center. Just 7 euros for the taxi from the station. Our room is on the 5th floor with a very nice view of the Cattedrale Santa Maria del Fiore-meaning you hear the bells everytime it rings, from 7AM then every...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
