Booked this hotel based on other tripadvisor reviews. This is an excellent hotel in a great location. All major tourist attractions within easy walking distance. The rom we were in was at the back of the hotel off a small courtyard. The room was large and easily accommodated the 3 beds we needed. The bathroom was massive and wel appointed....

The hotel had a pretty lobby and garden area but the rooms were tiny. It was our most expensive hotel in Italy, and definitely the smallest. There was hardly enough room for the bed. Also, the cleaning staff forgot to clean our room so when we returned, tired, at the end of a long day -- it was to our...

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. The location, 5 minutes walk from anywhere you could possibly want to be in Florence and surrounded by numerous quality little street restaurants, cafes etc,, is absolutely ideal. As for the hotel itself well, what can I say? The room was large, airy, stylish and extremely comfortable with its own balcony overlooking a...

Lived up to all the previous good reviews. Arrived to find we had been upgraded to a garden room - cool, comfortable, large, quiet and with a good sized bathroom and almost a dressing room as well. Hotel is very well placed - pretty near the train station, near enough to the key sites, especially Accademia and Annunziata, but well...

My husband and I have stayed in many hotels across Europe (usually for less than 150-200 euros per night), and this is the best hotel we've ever encountered in Europe. The hotel is spotless and stunningly beautiful, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The hotel recently underwent a renovation, making the common areas, floors, bathrooms - everything - lovely,...

Proximity to Santa Novella station was a key factor in our hotel choice; this was a 10-12 minute walk away. The hotel was clean, rooms were spacious (we were fortunate to have a balcony overlooking the garden that gets the sun in the morning), clean and air conditioned. Breakfast was good and plentiful, with amazing coffee! Free wifi in the...

Unfortunately, this hotel has sub-standard rooms marked as standard ones - and we got one. Our 'standard' room was tiny, dark, hot and had windows into a horrible internal 'light well'. Dear Uk_Theo, Thank you for posting your review with photos. I think that client's photos are the best, the truest and perhaps the only ones that can really give an idea. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
