The Hotel Cristina is a delightful, family-run hotel right in the heart of Florence. The location is excellent, a block from Piazza della Signoria (the main piazza of Florence). I lived in Florence in the 1990’s, and am pretty well-versed in the city. The family who runs the hotel is incredibly friendly and were extremely helpful when I needed some...

My husband and I recently stayed for just one night at this great little hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence on a budget. It was clean, well-priced (especially for Italy), authentic, spacious, and the service was very good. It is set in a 1000-year-old monastery - very cool. The exterior is less than impressive, but...

I really enjoyed my stay here - apart from the great location, the service was really outstanding. I was there on business and had little spare time, but the owners gave me some great advice and I managed to see a lot more of the city than I had originally thought possible. Grazie ancora! Best regards, David Leibowitz

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Cristina for a couple of nights. Our first impression was that it was slightly sketchy but in the end the location was great, it was quite clean and worth the money. Here are our highs and lows: Highs: Big room, clean, good shower pressure/temperature, fantastic location (right off one of the...

This was one of the worst hotels we encountered during a three-month trip to Europe this summer. The location was good. However, Florence is so compact that "good location" can be said of almost any hotel in the city, so that doesn't count in the Cristina's favor. We had reserved a triple, and the first night none of us could...

We stayed at the Hotel Cristina recently, and it was the worst experience of all the places we stayed in Europe. We had a room with a shared bathroom, and it was run down and dirty. There was a floor rug (used to cover the broken and loose tiles on the floor) that was full of sand, dirt and hair....

We knew this was a budget hotel going into it but the standards in this hotel are certainly not up to snuff. First of all, let me point out the one good thing about this hotel -- its location. It could not be any better. If someone were to invest about $15,000 into this hotel, it would be delightful. As...

I stayed here for 2 nights in July. The ladies who run this small establishment (maybe 10 rooms) were very nice. The room was huge, but the buliding was old, and felt old and dingy. The bathroom was clean, but the shower was a drain in the corner of the bathroom with a curtain. It was a nice hotel, but...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
