This has to be the worst hotel I have stayed in. The two rooms we had booked had a horrible odor and were dirty. To make matters worse, the air conditioning did not work in either room. The staff was rude. When I left my bag in the room to explore Florence, someone went through my bag.

Hotel De Lanzi is a decent hotel in a side street of the Duomo in Florence. The hotel is of a simple standard, and is located in the third floor of the building. I would recommend the hotel for people that are staying just a few nights in Florence, and want a good location without paying too much (and don't...

We stayed here recently. I booked through Venere.com and the price was offered at 78 euros for a double room, with an offer of 4 nights for the price of three. However, when I checked out, they wanted 4 lots of 78 euros (and in cash). They told me the discount had already been taken off the price, but this...

I traveled in May of 2010 and stayed 5 nights at the De Lanzi. Being a solo traveler i felt that the location was PRIME. You are only a block away from the Dome. The room was good, i felt it was very clean everyday. the decor does make it feel a little old, honestly if it had a fresh...

We stayed in a room with 2 double beds at the front of the hotel. For this reason the room was very noisy at night as there is lots of nightlife in this area. In saying this, fantastic little location, shops, food and sights all around the corner. 10 min walk to statue of David. Room a bit dark -...

We stayed out Hotel de Lanzi for two nights. You can't beat the location - just a half a block from the Duomo. The area is crowded during the day but the hotel is on a side street which doesn't get much street traffic. The rooms are a good size and are clean.

We had booked a two night stay in Hotel Bigallo. However on reaching there we were informed that we had been shifted to hotel De Lanzi. The first impression of hotel were decent. The Front Desk i must say was very helpful and very prompt in their service. They even gave us map of florence, told us where all to...

Arrived in Florence and discovered our pre-booked 5 night accommodation wasn't available and after looking at numerous very questinable "4 star" hotels found De Lanzi. By the time we arrived we were very distressed at the thought of not finding anywhere decent to stay - the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The entrance isn't enticing but don't be...

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice, September 2006 and October 2007. We were told about this place from our friends who stayed here on their honeymoon. The hotel is small, the staff can be rude, and don’t ask for an extra towel because no matter how much you beg they won’t give it to you. The...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
