My husband, my sister and I stayed at one of the Novella House apartments. We chose them because we had already stayed there before the hotel was bought by new owners :a family made up of a mother and her two children, Francesco and Olga. They were very prompt to answer our queries when we contacted them via Internet. Apartments... More

We arrived here at 2 july, but I foregot that I cancelled booking and booked elsewhere. They were very polite and instantly proposed a room for 100 EUR in the center of the city. They also gave me wifi access. I checked my booking and we left for another hotel but we were very pleased by the assistance that they... More

The Novella House was perfect - ideally situated for touring Florence and just a few blocks away from most major attractions and restaurants. The hotel was very clean, cool, comfortable and quiet - everything we were looking for after a long hot day of walking through Florence. Francesco and Olga were great hosts and made sure we had what we... More

Rooms were huge and cool, we did not use the aircondition too much. Nicely decorated with everything you Can ask for :) the staff was really helpful and kind. would definitely stay at this residence again. The only thing you should be aware of, is that they don't serve breakfast (as said in their page). But there are coffeeshops nearby... More

The hotel/B&B that doesn't actually have the breakfast part was very good! We were greeted by Francesco upon arrival who we had previously contacted via email about what time we would be arriving and the room was ready for when we got there. The room was fairly spacious with a separate private bathroom alongside complimentary water, fridge and coffee/tea making... More

We stayed in one of the apartments in Novella House, Florence for 4 nights. From "get go", Francesco was extremely helpful in responding very quickly to my many questions. He booked a couple of day tours , reserved Uffizi Gallery timed tickets and even made reservation for dinner for us at a "well sought after" restaurant in Florence. Novella House... More

The room where you stayed it was finished to renovate one week before your arrival, there was only to install the double window to avoid the noisy from the street, but when you booked the room you can't know that we want install it. Our office it... More

Francesco was great, facilitating a late-ish check-in and helping arrange an early morning cab ride to the airport. Room was pretty good sized for an urban place to crash. Neighborhood/building was a bit noisy but that's city living for you. Bathroom was en suite but the shower is almost comically small. See city living, above. Hotel is not a B... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
