We stayed here for 4 nights with our two teenage boys and found it to be great value. The rooms were clean and simply furnished - and had much more space and character than a hotel chain. We were especially glad of the air conditioning - it was exceptionally hot during our stay. Albena and Walter were friendly and welcoming,...

Upon checked into one of the popular hostels in Florence, we were told we HAD TO move to another room for the last two nights. I asked the hostel for help and was told in return it was a good thing we had to move just once, but not twice! That's when we decided we had had enough, and that's...

Albena and Walter are enthusiastic and warm hosts who make everyone feel welcome and at home. It is more like staying with an eccentric aunt than in a B&B... Albena's restaurant and site recommendations were exceptional and contributed to making our stay in Florence excellent for us and our children. The B&B is centrally located, clean and comfortable!

Albena and Walter were exceptional hosts and our stay at Soggiorno will be by far our most memorable. Honestly, I was worried about our stay in Florence because I made the reservation for all 5 rooms and Albena would not even take my credit card information to hold the reservation. She took the reservation on my word....wow, who does that...

Albena and Walter are very friendly and welcoming. Albena spent time with us showing us where everything was on a map before we ventured out. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. It faced an inner courtyard which was really nice. We were always welcome to use the computer, and the atmosphere there was very home-like. The location is great,...

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Great location. Beautiful rooms. I highly recommend this hotel. Extremely helpful and friendly staff (we stayed during the volcano incident in Iceland, and had some difficulty getting return flights, but the staff were very helpful making the inconvenience a pleasure).

Albena and Walter were above and beyond the best hosts! From wonderful breakfasts to restaurant recommendations that were truly delicious and affordable, Albena was a true delight to meet. Walter insisted on taking us to the train station refusing any compensation which saved us the stress and money from relying on a cab. My friend and I took our two...

This B&B has the perfect location to discover all the treasures of Florence. We stayed in Florence for 5 days and did everything by foot. As you will read in almost every other review, does Albena everything she can, together with her husband Walter, to make you feel at home. Nothing you ask is too much for her and she...

The rooms were very nice and were inside a 15th century built-building really setting the mood for historic adventuress to be taken place in Florence. The B&B's owners are wonderfully generous with: informaton, assitence and time. We many times just sat and drank coffee or a glass of wine with our host and were referenced to the hot spots in...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
