I stayed in Soggiorno Panerai with 3 of my friends in November 2008. We participated in the Florence marathon. Although weather was not that great during our stay we had the most excellent time! The B&B was perfect for preparing for the marathon and resting afterwards. Albena and Walter are very kind, and even helped with preparing the pasta breakfast...

My 83 year old mother, 26 year old daughter and I stayed at Soggiorno Panerai for one week in July while we toured Tuscany. First of all, Albena and Walter, the proprietors, could not have been more wonderful to us. They are two of the nicest people you could hope to meet , constantly asking if we were comfortable and...

My hubby and I went to France and Italy in June 2009 for our honeymoon trip. Along the trip, we stayed at this beautiful and warm b&b. We love the room as it was very spacious with Florentine art on e the high ceiling. The location was fantastic too coz it is located approximately 10-12mins walk from the train station;...

My husband and I had spent two weeks for a grand tour in Italy from Rome to Milan. I selected Soggiorno Panerai based on reviews on tripadvisor. I should say it's the best choice during my stay in Italy. The B&B is easy to find, only around 15-20 mins walk from Firenze SMN, on a quite road on the opposite...

Delightful host. Immaculate rooms and a brilliant location. Price is very reasonable. We felt like we were staying with an Italian auntie, who sent us to one of the best resturants we ate at in Italy.

I enjoyed my stay at B & B Soggiorno Panerai immensely! My husband and I did not know what to expect for the price but when we walked in, we were blown away! The room was spacious and clean. The bed was elegantly adorned and very comfortable. The location was great...a quick walk to the train station, church, all the...

Most of the other reviewers have hit the high points on Soggiorno Panerai already, but I really need to again mention the fantastic service from Walter and Albena. They will do absolutely anything to help you enjoy your visit to Florence! They set up reservations at restaurants and museums for us, recommended which restaurants the guide books had right and...

I would highly recommend this lovely bed and breakfast for its location, good price, and the quality of the care we received from the owners. Even more important was feeling comfortable with the owners, something I find important in the family atmosphere of a bed and breakfast. Walter and Albena were down to earth, helpful, and genuinely engaging and friendly....

This B&B was a great find. It is superbly located just down the street from the Duomo, yet quiet. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. We are a family of four and we were all in one room, but still did not feel crammed. Albena was an excellent hostess. It even has free internet. The only downside was the breakfast,...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
