Hotel very easy to find close to the coach drop off point and main train station. Easy access to all the sights in Florence. Staff we encountered polite and helpful. Night attendant a bit abrupt. Room: well... Basic at best, but didn't expect a lot for what we paid. Reservation stated three beds but received a double and one single,...

This is the worst hotel in my European tour. I arrived to the hotel in the morning, the room was not available, I had no problem with that, did the check in, left my luggage in storage and left for the city. Later in the day when I returned I told the front desk clerk in Italian about my early...

Excellent location. Near the central station and the duomo. Old hotel with short stairs. Concerning the bedroom and bathroom, both clean. Attentive staff. Only complaint is that the room we stayed in was very hot and the air conditioning could not cope.

Room was clean and reception staff were nice and friendly. All you need for a quick visit to florence. Very basic and in prime location. Make sure you only pay city tax once, I'm not sure if that was the hotels fault or hotel.com. Hotel is very close to train station and cathedral

The sewer gas smells coming from the bathroom were unbearable! We even tried to mask the odor with a candle. This did not work. Absolutely worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There is no way I would eat or drink anything from the hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights when we were in Florence. The location was great, very close to train station and main attractions. However, you pay for what you get - bathrooms quite small and some mould evident. Wifi worked well in our room - we were on first floor. No elevator for luggage - we had large suitcases but...

I think I was put in the same room as a previous reviewer (Cwilliamss). Got the big bed of 2 disjointed twin mattresses with the horrible bathroom smell. Everything the reviewers are saying about this place is true; and I've been traveling through Europe for years and staying is budget as well as high end places. Spagna is on my...

PSA: read this review if you want to possibly laugh...and discover the truth of the Spagna Wrath. We arrived at this hotel as two 22 year old backpackers who have stayed in a wide range of budget hotels. We were told we had the choice to have a small room with two small beds on the third floor, or a...

Ok, I understand that it's a budget hotel but it is not an excuse for rude staff. My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel in June/2014, for 3 nights. The rooms are small as it would be expected, not particularly clean or well kept. In the shower we could see tape holding the doors. Again, we felt like go...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
