We had a great 3 night stay at the Bellevue House and as others have mentioned, it is because of the family who owns and operates it. Alex, Luciano, and Susan were so friendly and welcoming. Their local dining suggestions were wonderful, the most delicious meals we had during our trip to Italy. Location wise, Bellevue House is perfect. Close... More

Bellevue House is very well located near the train station and at the heart of all Florence must-see places. The room was spacious, clean and so much appreciated the complementary bottle of water everyday in the room and having the capacity of warming up water for tea or coffee! But what makes it extra special is the amazing customer service... More

The only downside to this hotel is the stairs, it’s on the 3rd floor. But I must say it is worth the effort. The room was large with a nice, comfortable bed. There was AC and outlets on both sides of the bed. Good WiFi too. It is in a great location, walking distance to the train station and all... More

Hospitalized host who provides the best service as they could including hand carrying the luggages to the third floor where the hotel is. They are always there for you for anything you may need. Room is very clean, size comfortable. Walking distance to the train station. The famous Officina Profumo - Farmaceutica do Santa Maria Novella (a transitional formulated perfume... More

The father-son duo at Bellevue House is excellent. They provide great direction to food, museums, and places of interest. They have great local connections to several dining establishments. Cozy accommodations. If in Florence again, will return in a heartbeat.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The family went out of their way to make our stay perfect with museum reservations, restaurant recommendations, as well as including a happy birthday surprise. Exellent neighborhood with great restaurants. Acsessable to all the sights but away from the noise of the hustle- bussle. Highly recommend!

The owners made this place special. Both Luciano and Alessandro helped me with me whatever I needed and made sure I was comfortable here. Thanks to them I went to a few establishments for food, wine or coffee, I wouldn't have known about or thought to try. I truly enjoyed getting out of the normal tourist spots. Bellevue House was... Alex, the young man who manages the hotel together with his parents, is very warm, enthusiastic and helpful. They definitely made efforts to make all guests feel at home. Location of the hotel is 5minutes away from the train station by walking. From here one can walk to visit almost all tourist attractions at Florence within 15 to 20 minutes.... More

I found this place at the last minute and I'm so happy I did! It's very convenient to the Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence but yet when you're inside the property you feel far from the throng of tourists. But what made this place so special were the proprietors in particular the son, Alex...very sweet, pleasant and helpful.... More

Of our 2 weeks in Austria and Italy, this part of our trip in Florence was by far the best - and much of it had to do with selecting Bellevue House. Great location - minutes from the train station and wonderful sights of Florence. Alessandro and his Father were delightful hosts. Alessandro gave us great recommendations of where to... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
