Hotel Il Bargellino is a 10 room family style pension that can get a little noisy at times as other guest are talking and walking on the tiled hallway. The room doors are like regular bedroom doors which do very little to shut out the interior noise by other guest if they are loud going to their own room. Still,...

From the moment I stepped into Il Bargellino I felt at home. Family owned business greets you with a sincere smile and Carmel and Pino are there to make sure your stay in Florence is a memorable experience. Close to everything. They have an amazing roof deck to hang out in.

Tucked away down a side-street you will be warmly greeted and offerred any help in english, we had a tour booked and recommendations made, nothing was a problem, The rooms were decorated nicely and very clean. The hotel has a great balcony for wining and dining or just sitting in the sun to read a book, or to dry washing....

While both owners are pleasant and charming, perhaps they are too much so. We stayed four nights and on two of them they hosted parties that were rather loud. One night I was awaked at 1:45 a.m. The hotel itself is a lovely building but not exactly quiet. We ran our air conditioner more for white noise/background noise than because...

I came here as the Pisa city is just 20min by train, and i thought this city would offer better accomodation and fun at night than in Pisa. And i was right for this hotel ! This place offers amazing deal compare to any hotels near by. Why ? Becaus the location is a five minute walk from anywhere in...

We chose this place by the suggestion of Rick Steves and the reviews on Tripadvisor and we are so glad we did. It is perfectly located walking distance to the train station and since it is not technically in the "touristy" area, very close to the laundromat, pharmacy and a really cute place to eat breakfast. I felt as if...

Hotel Il Bargellino was just a few minutes walk from train/bus station. Carmel and Pino were wonderful hosts, very helpful with all kinds of information from places to eat, buses to catch and which internet cafe was the brightest and cleanest! This was a 30 year delayed trip for my husband and myself. Our plan was to stay at a...

I was recommended to Il Bargellino from a friend of mine. I cannot say enough about the owners, Carmel and Pino, who are now very close friends of mine. I ate with them in their kitchen and on the patio many nights long after I left the hotel after finding an apartment near Santa Croce. The rooms are extremly clean...

Near the rail and bus stations in an interesting area by the market. Rooms are a good size, but when it's hot they suffer from absence of air conditioning and some outside noise. The big pluses of the hotel are the excellent service and friendly attitude from Carmel and the fabulous roof terrace where you can meet other guests and...

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Il Bargellino. Carmel and Pino were friendly and welcoming and it occasionally felt more like staying at a friend's home than staying in a hotel. I loved sitting out on the terrace and meeting fellow travellers. Even though it's a little farther from the center of town than other hotels, I (a solo...

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
