The best part about this hotel is the parking space available, the small distance to the non-driving restricted part of the city and the breakfast (which was quite alright, with relatively vast range of options). The room was small, the bathroom was small. They didn't give us complementary water in the room. The lobby was rather spacious and interesting but...

The location of the hotel is near-perfect. 10 minutes walk from the Duomo and some amazing restaurants and the staff are brilliant. However, the hotel left me underwhelmed. The bed (like others have mentioned) were incredibly uncomfortable, the shower was tiny, the breakfast was unremarkable and the lack of care by cleaning staff was a shame. The bed was really...

Dear Madame, Thank you for your comment. I am afraid that you have found the bed uncomfortable. I know that some people prefer a soft sleeping but we have guests that complaint for the exact opposite. The shower is a standard size one. If you prefer to have more space just ask the reception a room with a bath tub...

This Hotel is in very good location. On foot you can reach the old town and the dome within just few minutes from the Hotel. Prices are very reasonable and rooms are large enough. Unfortunately, the beds are very uncomfortable.

Found this comfortable hotel up the street from Piazza San Marco and L'Accademie from a B&B book I read. A good 20 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Station, but then simple to get to the historic sites. Comfortable room, with a bath tub! Substantial breakfast with enough freshness and variety. Service good.

Had a very enjoyable experience at this hotel. Modern, clean hotel with a large bathroom and double bed. Was able to walk to the hotel (while dragging my suitcase) from the train station without any difficulty (about a 15 minute walk). You are then fairly close walk to all the attractions and restaurants through quiet safe neighbourhoods. Breakfast is included,...

This Hotel was a little further from the core but close enough to walk everywhere. With the heatwave that was on at the time of our holiday, we found ourselves taking a taxi back to hotel after a busy day. I am sure if the weather had been different, we would have been ok to walk everywhere. I would recommend...

Located in a quiet area with a short walk to the attractions. Clean and fairly comfortable with decent sized bathroom. The buffet breakfast has the basics - nothing more. There is a restaurant and bar on site but I didn't try them.

Nicely appointed, clean rooms. Pleasant and accommodating staff. We found this hotel to be a welcome oasis and great location for exploring the sites in and around this artfully beautiful and historic city. A pleasant and tasty breakfast fueled all our adventures touring downtown and the wonderful Tuscany wineries. San Gimignano towers provide one of the best views of the...

Once we found it after walking around in circles from the station (suggest taxi). The welcome was friendly and efficient from Jacob(?) at the front desk. Rooms aren't particularly spacious but as we weren't there for sitting in the room it was ideal. Clean with nice crisp bed linen and fluffy towels. Requested an additional pillow and a bath robe...

The hotel was very nice. The room was clean and well equipped with a small terrasse. The location was pretty good, one street and 10 minute walk to the duomo. The service at the front desk was very rude however.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
