We arrived at the San Gallo tired and needing to go on a tour leaving in 30 minutes. When I went into the lobby the desk clerk Alessandro immediately said" don't worry about anything we are here to make sure everything goes well for you." Alessandro. backed up his words with actions and the Hotel as a place to stay... More

This hotel is far from the madding crowds but within an easy walk to the centre of the city on the Dumo side of the Arno. Our twin room on the third floor had a very large wrap-around terrace with a table and chairs where, if it had been warm enough, it would have been very pleasant to sit and... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the San Gallo. The multi-lingual staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room could not have been better. Very modern and clean. We reserved a standard room, but were upgraded to a room with a private terrace when we checked in. This hotel is in a quieter part of town, but just a... More

Friendly staff, great breakfast and very clean. The rooms were also a nice size. Only complaint was no free Wi-Fi. Not in the center of the city, but it was a 15-20 minute walk or a 8 euro cab ride. We would definitely stay at the San Gallo again!

1- Surprised when I notice I have to pay 13 Euros daily for the internet in a 4 start Hotel (of course you can pay 5 Euros for 30 minutes option ) 2- The day of checkout, their system did not work. They told me they will send my bill via email. Although I asked them don't charge my credit... More

Just stayed here. Great room, service and people were great. But there was no wi-fi for free which I was shocked with. Also the breakfast wasn't good. It was basic and enough but definitely not 4 star breakfast wise. Rooms were nice though. You hear other rooms where people are loud but it was rare. I would say 3 star.... More

Stayed here as part of our honeymoon (road trip of Italy) and was given a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room, amazing! Breakfast was good, bathroom has a bath (first one) and staff would do anything to help. Parking is close, and cheap, although hubby did get a little lost trying to leave. The restaurant they recommended was also fabulous.... More

We found this hotel perfect for us, very clean, conveniently situated, fabulous breakfasts, and all the staff were so kind and helpful, we could not have asked for more. We highly recommend this one! On the last day( a Saturday) we were told about a lovely flower and plant market just down the road, it was really worth the visit.... More

Very nice hotel. The stuff is friendly and the room is very clean and tight. It's not exactly near historic center, but is at fairly 15 minutes walk. For me was the best because I'm not a big fan of noise. If you are not a big fan of walking, the bus C1 and 1 are taking you to town... More

We had an excellent room (# 312) with a balcony overlooking a courtyard. The bathroom had a two person shower with multiple jets. Both room and bathroom were very clean, well decorated and spacious. A pretty good, continental breakfast is served daily. There is a fitness room, but it contains a treadmill and a couple of hand weights -- nothing... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
