What a great stay. We reserved a quad room for my wife and I plus our two children. It was by far the biggest room we stayed in on our trip. Everything was clean, the staff was polite and helpful, and the breakfast was more than adequate. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this fairly priced, conveniently located hotel to anyone. P.S....

My family of 5 (three teenage daughters) spent two days at the Europa over the new year. Gassim, Miriam and all the staff provided us with a wonderful time. The rooms provided were clean and spacious with a newly renovated bathroom. They organisd the parking and garaging of our car without a hassle. Breakfast provided was of good quality and...

From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like family. Gassim the owner had remembered me emailing him and set aside the best room in the house for me. I believe it was room "47" or "27" and it was the one with a balcony (the only one with a balcony on the floor) with plants and...

In October of 2005, my husband and I took our delayed honeymoon traveling through different cities in Italy. In Florence, it was the Hotel Europa that was a wonderfully comfortable place to relax. I agree with all other reviewers that the staff, led by Gassim, are all incredibly accommodating and kind. With a restful sleep in our big suite (and...

Staying in the Hotel Europa helped make my trip to Florence really special. All the staff gave such a warm welcome and made it feel like home -I didn't want to leave! The beautiful view from my room of the Duomo and belltower was such a bonus. The only drawback is the sound-proofing within the hotel itself is not the...

My wife and I found this hotel through this website and everything is just like what the reviews say. At first we were a bit surprised by the small entrance and the old elevator, but we felt right at home as soon as we were welcome by Gassim, the owner. All hotel staff are very kind and helpful. Especially, David...

I thought that the service and hospitality of the owners of this hotel was so exceptional that it deserved a mention. The hotel itself is due a bit of renovation and is very basic. It is however extremely clean and is so centrally located that it makes it an ideal budget choice. I have stayed in many hotels of all...

Just got back from our stay at Hotel Europa and had a great time! The location is fab - 2 mins walk from the Duomo and about 5/10 mins to the station. We stayed in a double suite and it was great - large room with huge shuttered windows and we had a not bad view of a courtyard type...

My husband and I stayed at this charming, family run hotel for three nights, after reading a review in the New York Times. It lived up to its reputation as a gracious, warm and comfortable place to stay-- within easy walking distance of all the major attractions in Florence. Our room, on the first floor, was clean, bright and had...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
