The service is excellent, the location is good (very close to the train station, so if you are arriving by train it's just a short walk to the hotel), the amenities are great. We had a skylight in our room and that was a nice surprise. Also, the bed was huge (the mattress was a little hard though) and the...

Just stayed there 2 weeks ago. Very easy to find its location. only less then 10 min walk from Santa Maria Novella train station. Almost walkable to everywhere we want to go from shopping to site see. Rooms are of right size and there was a pretty big bath room. Modren design and it was comfortable. The breakfast spread was...

I had one of the strangest nights in a hotel during my one night stay at Hotel Embassy. First, we were informed our room was on the 4th floor, but then the clerk informed us that the elevator was out of order. No problem I thought, I'll take the stairs - only to be informed that there were no stairs...

This hotel is a good choice if you arrive to Florence by train, as it is only minutes (walkung) from Firenze Santa Maria train station. It's also a short 10 min walk from Florence historic center. The rooms are domewhat dull, but clean. Breakfast has nice selection, with excellent expresso coffee. The price seems very reasonable. Overall I had a...

Well we booked this hotel after looking on trip advisor and after taking all the good advice we decided to book through Voyage Privee. The hotel is truly first class for the price and is very close to the railway station and two or three very good restaurants. The place is kept spotlessly clean with all towels and bed linen...

Since we had heavy luggage to haul, we chose this hotel as it was a few minutes walk from the railway station. The area it is in is rather drab with the trams plying up and down the road where the old wing/main building is located. I'd recommend staying in the new wing behind. We requested a room in the...

Not a 4star hotel, but solid 3star. Pros: clean, good breakfast, location is convenient and within walking distance to train station and major attractions. Cons: mattresses are very hard, front desk is less than welcoming, Internet extremely slow and unreliable.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
