This is a good place to stay. We found it easily from the station in less than 5 minutes. It is handy walking distance to all the florence attractions we wanted to see. Nice big comfy bed. Elevator instead of suitcases up stairs. All the staff were very friendly helpful and obliging. Good buffet breakfast .

Great little hotel in the middle of Florence. Clean and tidy rooms with small but functional bathroom. Rooms serviced daily and breakfast included. Loved the fact that it was walking distance to every attraction plus the train station. Being located on the piazza Santa Maria Novella means that there was plenty of public space for sit sitting and relaxing, so...

Our agent had booked a superior deluxe room for 3 nights.(23/06 to 26/06). However we were given a dark gloomy room. The room was painted in dark shade of black with one wall having light colored wall paper. With the window falling on inside part of building there was no natural light coming in.In addition there were insufficient lights in...

We started and ended our trip at this hotel. The first room we got was on the third floor - very funky wallpaper, small showers, but not atypical for Italian hotels. The second room we got at the end of our trip was in the higher floors that are newly renovated (central AC, balcony, modern styling, bigger showers). Would I...

You cannot adjust the AC or turn it off by yourself. Remotes are not in the room, by hotel decision. You have to call to the reception to either shut it down remotely, or they will send a guy with bunch of remotes, not knowing the type of your AC, to adjust it. Half of them are not even working...

We weren't expecting much after 3 star hotel experience in Rome, but this hotel was amazing. We arrived early, left our luggage and went for a walk. When we returned our luggage had been taken to our room for us already. The room was large, clean and comfortable and had a balcony looking over the square. Lovely and quiet. Staff...

This hotel is just across the street from the train station and overlooks a gorgeous Piazza Santa Maria Novella. It is a fun and slightly eclectic hotel. The rooms were nice and we loved the balcony overlooking the Piazza. The staff was very nice, we thought the breakfast was great, especially since it was free. The location was near perfect,...

Breakfast was very poor. There were not options even for convenient visitors. The room with the view had nice view but without balcony. The wc was quite big and clean. Nice quality of sleep without noise. Lastly, we had parking problem and we had to pay a lot for overnight parking. We asked for help from the reception but the...

After jumping off the train we had to walk 300 metres in the rain to our hotel. The rooms are clean and the breakfast in a cosy little room and had a good choice. The staff are all very friendly and the location again is ideal with plenty to choose from at your door step.

The service was outstanding, staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was great also, just a few hundred meters away from the train station which saved time and effort. The rooms were cleaned well. Overall, for the price we were very satisfied.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
