Stayed here for two nights of our 4 night trip to Florence and it was wonderful. Rooms were well appointed, small as they are in the city centre but lovely. Shared bathroom was always available. Price could not be argued with. Roof terrace was an absolute pleasure. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed only one night in Florence at Soggiorno La Cupola. I'm honestly not sure we could've done another. We had a shared bathroom which was hard to get into at times, and we only had one thin, hard pillow, not great for your neck. I woke up the next morning with some aches. The room was...

Wonderfully friendly owner who went out of her way to make us happy, recommending good local restaurants instead of tourist traps and helping us find our way around. Fantastic location! Only down the street from the Duomo and easy walking distance everywhere else. It's only about 3mins walk from the station as well so easy to get to. It was...

My daughter and I are staying here 2 nights (tonight is our second night). The room we have is 2 floors up from reception. We're only one floor away from the amazing rooftop terrace! All sights and many good restaurants are within 1/4 mile of the hotel. The only bad thing we've encountered is the heat - no a/c, but...

This place was not worth the money. It doesn't even look like a hotel. Feels like a make shift apartment. We didn't even last 1 night before we had to find a different place to stay. It was loud and dumpy.

The pensione is a 5 minute walk from the train station along the main road to the Duomo, its located within an apartment block between shops so look for the nameplate on the door. The owner was waiting for us, we arrived just before 7pm, she was friendly and checked us in to one of the rooms quickly. She only...

The hotel was older, but did the job. Beautiful rooftop terrace to have a picnic/drinks and enjoy the view of the Duomo and the rest of Florence. One downside...... traffic noise, but the ambulance driving by with sirens wailing every 15 mins. for 3 days straight got to me eventually. The Ambulance must be stationed very close, because it was...

We have stayed there for 2 nights. The location is perfect just in the middle of train station and Duomo. Bed is clean and good. Bathroom is a little bit small, if you are below average in terms of height and weight, I do recommend you as a budget option in Florence.

Soggiorno La Cupola is on a great spot in Florence, more or less next to the Duomo. Its big roof terrace is amazing, with a great view of the church and bell tower and over the city. You can sit there day and night. The room itself is small (especially the bathroom) but clean and has a nice italian atmosphere....

I should start by saying that our expectations were not really high (for ~$60 American what could we expect?) so what we got from Soggiorno La Cupola met, and in some cases exceeded, those expectations. Many other reviewers have mentioned that the staff (namely a woman who is perhaps the sole proprietor) is not very present and speaks only Italian....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
