A very nice, clean and all-equipped room close to the main station and to the center of the city. You can reach historical place in Just 10 minutes or a bit more by walk. But the strongest point is the owner and the staff, kind, polite and easy going, that will make you feel as in your home. We suggest...

Room was charming and so was the staff. Near the train station. We went almost everywhere by foot. Lots of helpful tips from the staff (where to go, eat, etc.) Will definitely go there again!

I stayed at Il Giglio for four nights in November, 2011. I was an older woman traveling alone and had misgivings when I learned that the owners didn't reside on the premises. I felt safe at all times here. My room and both bathrooms were spotless. The bed was most comfortable. It was quiet inside day and night even with...

We stayed here for 3 nights in early October 2011. The guesthouse is a short walk from the train station, and the owner met us at the door of the building based on my email telling him what time our train would arrive. We had a double room with a shared bathroom. There are two bathrooms available for guests to...

This is a clean comfortable place to stay. It is a little out of the way but otherwise ok. There is no 24 hr reception which was annoying.

We rented two rooms for one night and this was the first time I had shared a bath. I was apprehensive but the level of cleanliness and coziness of the place erased all my apprehensions. This is an economical place to stay. It is not fancy but the hospitality of Melusina and her husband made it a wonderful place to...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
