Super friendly staff and clean accommodations. Our rooms were large. Overall excellent value for what we spent. Location is also amazing, directly across the street from the Statue of David, and 15 minute walk to the Train Station. Only drawback was that the WiFi was quite poor.

An absolutely delightful place to stay while in Florence. This is my fourth stay here and it only gets better. Francesca is the most wonderful hostess – friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly accommodating. The apartments are all well appointed and comfortable; in a historic building of this type, you will find the perfect combination of classic style and modern conveniences. The...

Love this palace turned hotel. Great location and price. Francesca a joy! Very accommodating and helpful. Directly across the street from Museo Academia. Very roomy apartment with comfy beds and nicely appointed kitchen. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence!

It hasn't been the first time we stayed at Palazzo Alfani al David. The first time was a few years back. So this time around was like coming home -- coming home to the warmest, kindest friends, and to the same high level of efficiency and professionalism as well. Nothing was wanting. From the accommodations and amenities, location, guidance and...

Francesca was amazing. Extremely helpful locating attractions, giving advice. She helped me call a taxi to get to the airport at the conclusion of my trip. The apartment was totally upgraded, best shower that I had in all of Europe. Spacious, clean, stocked with necessities. Best experience of my month in Italy.

We recently stayed there for 3 nights. The apartment was great. It was literally 5 min walk to the Basilica and across the road from Academia Galleria. You cannot ask for a better location. Francesca and her team was excellent. You can stop your search for a place to stay. Look no further. Just stay here!

We arrived in Florence with two very young children in tow, completely fraught. The kids were screaming, we'd been travelling all day and we were lost. We called Francesca for help and had to hang up several times in order to address the growing crisis in the back seats. In the end, I bundled the kids into a Gelateria, leaving...

My husband and I stayed in the deluxe apartment with our two daughters, ages 13 & 8 in July. Francesca and her associate met us there at a designated time, as there is no concierge or front desk 24/7 like a traditional hotel. Both ladies were very friendly and very helpful. The apartment was gorgeous. Two spacious bedrooms, two modern...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
