Nestled in the heart of Florence, Palazzo Castri 1874 Hotel & Spa is a sanctuary of relaxation, cherished by guests for its serene garden, modern spa, and tranquil pool. The hotel basks in praise for its immaculate cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere. While its central location is ideal for sightseeing, some guests find the rooms to be a mix of charm and occasional discomfort due to size and noise. The staff's attentive service is frequently commended, yet opinions on value are mixed, with the cost of some amenities and parking being points of contention.

We upgraded our room which gave us a fabulous view of the Duomo, the pool and a little balcony. I noticed the room was larger than the regular rooms too. The room and bathroom were faultless and had lots of white fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers. We weren’t however impressed with the breakfast which wasn’t as wonderful as our other previous Italian breakfasts. The pastries didn’t taste fresh, there was no toast and the sausages were pale pink and chopped up so rather unappealing. There wasn’t a good fresh fruit selection but the eggs and bacon were fortunately good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were only four cushioned sun loungers so quite limited if more than this number wished to lie around the pool. There were other forms of seating though like sofas and deck chairs. The road outside the Hotel to walk into the centre was very busy with people and traffic (the main road to the train station)but to avoid this we turned right instead of left and found a quieter walk in.

Great experience! The room seemed newly refurbished and the service was excellent. We do not typically write reviews on the hotels we stay, but this time we felt that we owe it to the hotel for their eagerness to please and make our stay as good as possible. Great attention to detail (free mini bar that was filled every day, amenities, etc.). The location is good, close to the S. Lorenzo market and to the Galleria Dell'Academia, and 15 min walking from the river. The online pictures were exactly what we found at our arrival, which is something unusual in Italy. Would definitely recommend this hotel if it is within your budget

The lobby and breakfast areas are very small meaning less choice was available at breakfast than another hotel we stayed at, purely due to space but the food was delicious. The room was comfortable and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The location is close enough to walk to the main sites without being on top of the hustle and bustle in peak periods. We took the T2 tram from the airport for €1.70 each and were able to walk to the hotel with cases in about 9 minutes. The spa facilities are fantastic and much needed for tires legs after long days walking, the best way to see Florence. The gardens are beautiful and some rooms have lovely balconies overlooking it, a modern feel but still classic, a lovely blend of decor. The staff were exemplary and couldn’t do enough for us. They helped with directions, booking tickets and disabled access as well as recommending local eateries. This included the local market, somewhere special for my partners Birthday and Trattorias which weren’t overpriced like the Center. They couldn’t do enough, I highly recommend this property.

Quite a find in the centre of Florence and so pleased we picked this perfect Hotel for our 47th wedding anniversary. From reception to breakfast to housekeeping the staff are lovely and made our stay special.....even giving us a complimentary anniversary Prosecco. The bed was comfortable, shower hot, room spotless at all times Book a room which includes Spa access and although our room overlooked the square and street, we didn't hear any street noise or disturbance. The area is quite safe to walk around with a couple of Trattorias nearby with a ten minute walk to the Central Market area, full of bars and restaurants in side streets along the way and 15 minutes walk to the main railway station .

The Hotel breakfast buffet (choice of pastries, bread, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, cheeses, hams, tomatoes and great coffee/tea/juice) was plentiful and set us up for the day sightseeing. At the end of the day it was so good to come back to the peace and quiet of the courtyard garden and use the spa facilities for chilling out. A lot of walking in Florence but bubbling away aches and pains when returning to the Hotel is highly recommended. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence.

I recently stayed at this Inn in Florence and overall I had a great time. The location is perfect for exploring the city on foot, being minutes from the main attractions of the historic center and the surrounding area.

The staff is charming, always smiling and available to answer all my questions, which really made my stay pleasant. The rooms were clean, nice and quiet, even those overlooking the street, which is a real plus in a city as lively as Florence.

However, a few details disappointed me. There was no coffee maker in the classic rooms, which is a shame, especially in Italy, where coffee is a real institution. In addition, the mini-bar was very little provided, with only a bottle of water and two cans of soda.

Wellness facilities such as sauna and steam room, although small, were nice and clean. However, the pool is really very small and fills up fast. Reservation system for pool access makes its use less spontaneous and requires planning in advance, which can be demanding.

Breakfast was okay, but no more. The buffet offered very little choice, which could be improved. I Trip Tip You to Take It Elsewhere Outside

In conclusion, for all those looking for a very well located Inn in the center of Florence, nice and clean, this is a good option, especially if the goal is to spend some time at the Inn to rest after a day of sightseeing. For my part, if I had to return to Florence, I would gladly choose this establishment again.

We stayed here for four nights and we loved it! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left to go to the airport we couldn't fault it. Our room was spacious, immaculate, cool, plenty of charging points, coffee machine, kettle, mini fridge, and safe. The bathroom was very sizable too with a walk in shower. Our bed was huge, and extremely comfortable - one of the best we have slept in on our travels. We chose to have the spa access included in our booking and this was a good choice as it was great to be able to relax in the steam room/sauna, and cool off in the pool after a hot, tiring day sightseeing in beautiful Florence. Breakfast was good (you also have the option of a takeaway breakfast if you are out very early in the morning), and we had dinner one evening which was good too. A shoutout to the staff that work here and keep everything running to such a high standard - they are all polite, helpful, and always happy!

The hotel offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of Florence. Though its simple facade might be deceiving, stepping through the doors reveals a quaint lobby and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The subtle, pleasant aromas throughout the facility add to the inviting atmosphere. Breakfast, which includes a full coffee service, is fantastic.

The hotel's garden grounds provide ample space for relaxation, featuring a small but functional pool. The front desk staff is exceptionally helpful, and the entire property, including the guest rooms, is impeccably clean. An empty cup or plate left by your seat outside while lounging or having a meal is promptly collected, showcasing the attention to detail that enhances your stay.

I look forward to returning to Florence and staying at the Palazzo Castri during my next visit.

My husband and I stay in Florence at least once a year and since we discovered Palazzo Castri it has become our reference hotel. As soon as you cross the threshold you are enveloped in a magical atmosphere: kindness and friendliness are the watchwords. Everything at Palazzo Castri is done exclusively for the well-being of the customer, with the utmost attention to every detail, from breakfast, to the rooms or the various services offered. Another strong point is the location, being located a few minutes from the station and the center is ideal for discovering the city on foot.

I cannot recommend the Palazzo Castri enough - from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were wonderful and so helpful and the gardens/patio were so welcome after a long day of sightseeing.

We had an accessible suite on the ground floor which was immaculately clean and although we did not need some of the facilities available in the suite I would recommend this room type for anyone who has limited mobility. The bathroom had a sliding door and once into the main area the shower area, lowered sink and WC provided was exceptional.

Our suite on the ground floor had a terrace overlooking the hotel gardens which after a day of sightseeing was very welcome.

As I said previously from when we arrived at the hotel the reception staff were so friendly and helpful - they continued to be so during our whole stay and I think it unfair to single out a single member of staff - they were all exceptional including the breakfast staff. housekeeping and those you don't see behind the scenes.

The breakfast buffet had an excellent choice and what seemed to be a never ending choice of coffee and it was nice to be able to sit outside if tables were available.

The Palazzo is conveniently located near the railway station and it isn't far to walk to the main sites of Florence including the Duomo, Academia and the Piazza del Mercato Centrale Firenze.

If I were to return to Florence I would definitely stay at Palazzo Castri 1874 again.

Stayed at this delightful boutique hotel and couldn’t be more pleased. The spacious, clean rooms provided a perfect retreat, while the lovely garden offered a tranquil spot to relax. The breakfast was a standout—delicious and varied, it set a great tone for the day.
The service was exceptional, with staff always ready to assist. While the hotel is conveniently located near the train station, I strongly recommend arranging a transfer service as the narrow sidewalks can be congested when carrying luggage.
It’s just a 15-20 minute walk to the center square and only 5 minutes to the vibrant central market area, making it an ideal location for sightseeing. Overall, this hotel is perfect for anyone looking to unwind in a serene environment after a day of exploring. Highly recommend!
