I have stayed in the St Gotthard 6 or 7 times on business, the staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms are always spotless. It is close to the station so convenient. On my latest visit I noticed that they now have a small bar, although I didn't use it. There is free wi-fi and use of the mini...

We always stay at the St. Gotthard when in Basel. It's proximity to the manin SBB train station, to the trams, to downtown, its very friendly staff, and wonderful(!) breakfast buffet make it a perfect hotel for us.

This property was the first pit stop to a 4 night sojourn to Switzerland. What it became was a future destination! If you are reading my review to find a hotel in Basel that is close to the railway, look no further. We traveled by train from Paris to Basel after a long flight and travel day from the US....

Although interior design, e.g. color scheme, is not up to date, the rooms are spacious, clean, quiet and stocked with a free mini-bar. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Any time I asked for something or when once i reported a malfunctioning bathtub facet they responded promptly. The breakfast to tip top.

This hotel was close to the central train station which in most cities may be a negative but in quaint Basel it is a positive as you are close to everything. We walked to our business engagements - and took the extensive tram network to restaurants and sights. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent in an...

We stopped over in Basel, our first city in our first visit to Switzerland, on our way to Lucerne. Hotel St Gotthard was directly opposite the train station (2-3 minutes on foot with luggage) and right next to the tram station. This made it an obvious choice for us when we booked online. However, not so obvious was the level...

An excellent four stars, very comfortable and very close to the station and the city centre. Employees always present, very kind and helpful. Very clean and comfortable rooms and bathroom, well furnished, well lighted and efficient. Great breakfast included, products quality excellent. Complimentary fast wifi. Swiss rates (very high, this is the only reason for the missing fifth star).

We stayed at the Hotel St. Gotthard in Basel for nearly two weeks a few years ago and were happy to return again for a week's visit this July. Since our last visit, there had been some remodeling to add a juice bar in the lobby, and there were even more lovely art objects on display. Otherwise, everything was just...

Their slogan above, is obviously just advertising fluff, but their friendliness and warm welcome were certainly well up there with the very best we have ever received. The location is great for train travellers (which we were), though the next door McDonalds is slightly off-putting. Nevertheless, we would happily stay there again with a good sized, clean and very quiet...

Very easy to reach from train station and right next to the main tram stops. Our room was had eveyrything we needed and was clean, maybe a bit small if staying more than 1 night. Friendly reception. There is also the possibilty to use a nearby gym at a reduced cost.
