Another very efficient Swiss hotel with friendly accommodating staff - the room was great with the typical European amenities. We enjoyed a couple of meals in their patio dining facility - food and wine were great and staff very professional - convenient location close to the Rhine with streetcar service in front of the hotel.

As others have said the hotel is quite nice but it seems pricey to a lot of people. OTOH I suppose it has to be measured against Swiss prices on general, and this is undoubtedly an expensive country to visit. On the plus side the location is terrific, the staff friendly and helpful, and breakfast is pretty good. On the...

Handy for walking tours of the Old City and for attending the Jazz Night.. Great staff and amazing Wine Cellar. Our room was very good and overlooked the courtyard. Handy to the start of our river cruise.

Our first visit to Basel. Chose Der Teufelhof over other hotels for its location, great reviews and it seemed different from other hotels. Good choice! Rooms spacious, location brilliant (close to everything but in a quiet area). Staff were so helpful, friendly and relaxed. Honestly appeared to enjoy their work and helping their guests. Breakfast selection offered was good too....

This hotel is a true jewel at the edge of the historic Basel centre. Service was very welcoming, quick and friendly, room was spacious and nicely designed (unfortunately missing AC though), food (breakfast) was very tasty and of good quality. Try the hotel restaurants in the inner and outer courts (covered when rainy). Perfect location for business or family trip...

First time in this hotel, but not the first time in Basel, so have stayed in many hotels in the city. I'll probably make this my preferred location in the future. Slightly off the main streets, so quiter, but still within great range of public transport. Lovely rooms, with a real attention to design and features. My only minus would...

I concur with the reviews here about the cool vibe of the historic Teufelhof. However, it certainly wasn’t “cool” in August when we had the bad luck to book on the hottest day of the year! The staff cheerfully provided floating pillows and instructions for the super-fun float down the river, but the room was stiflingly hot at night. I...

From check-in to check-out Teufelhof staff were fantastic. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, situated above the outdoor restaurant area and facing the street we were able to hear the noise of diners and trams but this was part of the joy of staying here. Tram access to the hotel is very easy as the stop is adjacent to...

Stayed for one night here during a very hot spell in Basel. Booked a 1st floor room for 3 of us (room11) which was great for us. A room with large double bed & a large double sofa bed in an adjacent room which would have been a sitting area. A fan was provided already in the room as it...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Der Teufelhof Basel, situated in the old town, with all sights and museums within walking distance or easy to reach by public transport, is a unique hotel experience with 33 stylish rooms. The hotel is classified as design and lifestyle as well as unique hotel. The rooms are either in the historic building, we call Art hotel, or in the more modern part in the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and a suite. Each of them is made a work of art to live in. Especially business people who travel a lot enjoy staying in rooms which are not like the hotel rooms they know from their visits throughout the world. The Gallery Hotel's rooms and halls are a large exhibition area for one artist who can present his works for a particular period. We have chosen three designers for the rooms' furniture. The Gallery Hotel has twenty rooms, each different in size, three suites and a junior suite. The hotel comprises further the restaurant Atelier, the fine dining restaurant Bel Etage, the Teufelhof Bar, the wine shop «Falstaff», an own theater and the archaeological cellar. ... more   less
