Though I arrived late, I was greeted by a polite and friendly night porter, she even got me a nice cold beer though the bar was closed. Wish I could speak so highly of the senior barman. The room was small, but comfortable and nicely decorated. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring Basel and only a few yards from...

East West Hotel has a large outside patio with a view of the river . We were there on a Sunday and it was quite busy. THe waiter was very helpful and spoke english. I had the sausage and cheese salad and my wife had the mixed greens and eggs salad . Both were excellent and typical Swiss prices of...

The East-West Hotel offers a restaurant at a very nice location in the heart of Basel just at the Rhine river. They have not much on the card: Some Burgers with french fries. That's it. The prices are rather expensive (well that is probably due to the location). The service tends to be quite slow (since there are only 2...

Loud music and crowd noise till 3:30 am. Thought it was not possible in Switzerland, but.......Also no aircon, but because of noise opening the window on the warm evening was not an option. Regret not being informed in advance by hotel when making phone reservation Pity, because it is a nice, unpretentious hotel

As a long time resident of Basel, I have seen a major transformation along the Rhine on the 'small' Basel side of the river - lots of informal cafes to hang out, have a coffee, light sandwich, etc. The East-West hotel was newly renovated, so one sunny, Rhine-swimming day I decided to check out the fare - what a burger!!...

An good, central location right on the banks of the Rhine and a short walk to many of the major attractions. Refurbished to a high standard with comfortable and spacious rooms. However, the lack of aircon in warm weather will be a big downside for some people. In a pedestrian zone with no garage parking so have to park in...

Lovely hotel by the Rhine, close to transport links (tram 8 to Bahnhoff SBB) bit noisy due to the Euro16 and the riverside bar under the room, htel is aware and will provide ear plugs. Great for walks to the old town and along the river to Dreiländereck, border of 3 countries. Evening meal was delicious but quite expensive (...

Prices are high in Switzerland, but we were lucky too find the East West hotel. Beautifully renovated rooms in a vintage building with gorgeous views of the Rhine. A short tram ride from the railway station takes you almost to the door of the hotel. No air-con, but with the windows open and with the fan going the room was...

This hotel was terrible! I have no idea how this place is rated well on trip advisor?? There is no aircon in the rooms just a pedestal fan, which may not be so bad in winter but if your going in summer and the temps are 36• like we experienced then it's a very uncomfortable stay an almost impossible sleep!...

Good little boutique hotel with modern rooms. In a good location overlooking the Rhine and just across the river (and adjacent bridge) from the old town of Basel. Very comfortable hotel, recommend for those on a city break. I am not sure it has all the services for a business traveller but fine for a comfortable and simple stay.
