It's a bit tricky to find this place, once you do hard to figure out what to do with the car. Once we got this straightened out, things were better. Front desk is so friendly. Everyone there was a friend. I wish I could remember...More
This hotel was located just across the river from the old city of Bern. We stayed here three nights and enjoyed being able to walk over the bridge to Bern. The hotel was clean and the WIFI was good. The breakfast was very good. The...More
Even though the hotel was full, the owner helped us for an hour scour the town of Bern for another place to stay; an excellent service for two struggling with all the German webpages. Even called ahead and reserved a place nearby for us! Very...More
Step out of your comfort zone, reject the predictable environs of a big chain hotel and immerse yourself in the culture and history of this picture post card city. This little hotel did just that for us. The reception hall and desk is incredibly tiny...More
Extremely friendly and warm staff, lovely rooms, wonderful location. Beds were super comfortable, very quiet nights sleep. Great value considering how close the hotel is to the centre of Bern. Highly recommended, would definitely go back if I was staying in Bern.

Actually, it's not a bus; it's a tram--what we used to call a trolley or trolley-bus in the U.S. (I. e. , powered by overhead electric lines not by diesel fuel). They're painted red and the one to the Barengraben is #12. You can catch it right outside the train station. Look for the one labeled "Zentrum Paul Klee" --the end of the line. If it says "Langasse" it's headed the other way, but it will get you there eventually (if you stay on) and you'll get to see a bit more of the city, including the university district.

The hotel does not have their own car park. However, there is street parking available opposite and beside the hotel. There are 2 types of street parking. The first types are marked with white lines and are metered parking. From memory you need to top up the meter every 4 hours. Opposite the hotel there is a section marked out in blue lines. This area is restricted for 24 hour parking - a permit costs EUR16-00 per day. Patrick, the hotel manager will provide the permit for you. Bern is easy to walk around. We left our car parked in the blue area and just walked everywhere.
