The smell of the last bit of cheese fondue burned on the bottom of the pot permeates this hotel in the evenings. The rooms and lobby are cute in a theme sort of way. The location was quite good for our family, but the room view were unattractive. Our air conditioning was broken for 1/2 of our stay and it...

We read reviews referencing the "cheese smell" but did not heed them....please listen! Upon checking in we were hit with, as my son stated, "a wall of rancid cheese smell", it was overwhelming and nauseating, it permeated the rooms we had and when opening the windows found that the kitchen exhaust was right outside and added even more. The hotel...

We stayed at Hotel Edelweiss for 2 nights in July 2011. Overall, it was a great find -- easy to walk to from the Geneva train station and close to Lake Geneva. The hotel itself is tacky-cute, and our room was very comfortable. Staff at the front desk was always very friendly. Pluses: great temperature/air conditioning control in room, modern...

Your feeling toward the Edelwiess could depend on room rate: Rates here vary dramatically depending on demand. if you're paying under CHF 180/night, you might find it charming, amusingly kitschy (think stuffed St. Bernard's in the lobby), and well located. If you're paying over CHF $300/night for the same room, you might notice the atrocious room lighting, minuscule elevator, and...

This hotel turned out to be really expensive for us. When we checked in they told us the times for breakfast in the morning. Every place we stayed in Switzerland included breakfast in their room rates. We went to breakfast. There were no eggs, potatoes and the only bacon was unedible. We had coffee and a roll. There were no...

The room was large bright and decorated in traditional Swiss style with hand painted flowers on the wood paneling. The bath was large by European standards. The fast room internet worked flawlessly, and there was an excellent espresso maker in the room. The negative in the room - was the 'queen bed' which was actually two single beds pushed and...

Stayed at this hotel for just the one night with my two best girls in a triple room. It was clean, comfortable and perfect for people who (like us) love cheese. Good shower in the bathroom and very quiet/dark - good for sleeping in after a late night out. The decor downstairs was hilariously Swiss - lots of red and...

Lovely, charming hotel perfectly situated between the Geneva train station and Lac Leman. Traditional Swiss decor, staffed by a friendly, courteous and responsive front desk and reception personnel who cannot do enough to make your stay pleasant. Try the hotel's restaurant, as it provides a delightful evening of entertainment and fine food. We ate four types of well prepared potatoes,...

It is a cozy hotel with very pretty Swiss decorations. The room and reception were charming with a lot of wooden furnishing. The restaurant in the hotel was just as well decorated and the spread of food for the breakfast buffet was good. The servers were also very efficient. The Taiwanese server (didn't manage to get her name) was nice...

This hotel attempts to capture "typical" Switzerland....which is charming and funny. It's decor is touristy, but I appreciated their efforts. From a US American perspective, it's pricey - no two ways about it. But, all of Geneva is outrageously expensive, so be prepared....food costs nearly double of what you'd pay in other European countries. The hotel is about a 6...
